I was inadvertently in the mud with my 2910 yesterday trying to clear some brush when the bottom fell out of the running surface, so to speak. What I noticed surprised me a bit, both front wheels were digging in. I don't believe I have seen that in a FWD tractor before, must be a limited differential in the front end? I must admit, it is the best one I have owned in the traction department. The machine does not scuff the yard when in FWD either, perhaps a LS differential is the reason why?

If it is there is nothing in the literature concerning it. Sure would be nice. I have had both front wheels spinning in the gumbo here simply because neither has little or no traction.

I thought of that Eric, but this was pretty heavy stuff and the right front wheel was in a much better position than the left. Normally that would cause the one with lesser traction to break loose, didn't happen. Perhaps Art can explain it? ....

I have to agree that neither wheel had enough traction to make a difference. I have seen the bota's on there belly in mud and not seen them stop and thanked the boss up stairs. I don't mind good demo's but I hate to get dirty. Kubota does have many models that do have a diff lock on the front but they are limited to the M-series to the best of my knowledge. ....

I guess that clears up the question. I am used to the reaction of the rear axle in my truck, seems in TWD it does not take much for one side or the other to break traction while previous versions with lockers that I have owned always break together. I have not however noticed a difference in traction while plowing with the non-locker rear end in my truck except that it does not slip sideways when the rear traction breaks, something that has caused me to bury vehicles in the past. ....

I have frequently see both fronts turning on my 4115 and on the now departed BX.
If I hit the diff-lock on the 4115 while in 4wd I can get all four turning at once, especially if I moderate the power to the wheels.
I don't understand why or how it can do this, but I have seen it happen enough to be sure of what I am seeing. ....

Small wheels, a rocky lot and a 50's something back with too many bar fights on the clock all conspired against "little toot". The ride quality on my piece of land was kicking my butt.
I sold the BX and traded the 4100 Gear for a unit with the best features of both.... the 4115. I wasn't real picky I would have been quite happy with a B7800 or a B2910 T/L/B but market conditions and crabby dealers took that option off the table. ....
