I had no idea until I saw it in the news tonight. He lived out your way Ken, in Ashland, OR. He was one of my favorite villain and John Wayne movie actors. You may remember him by his bulging, off kilter wondering eye that never seemed to look straight at you. He was 82 (there seems to be some question as to exactly how old, between 82 & 86). I guess this is one of the parts of growing older that I will never get used to. Seems like so many of the public figures I grew up with are gradually passing on. But then agin........won't we all someday? All part of the big trip I suppose. Here's to Jack! May he rest in peace! May he make it to Heaven 3 hours before the devil knows he's dead! ;-) Here is a link to the article.

Yep, I saw this a day or two ago on foxnews.com. He was a great character actor. It's depressing to see the older generations of respectable public figures pass on, to be replaced by people for whom depravity is a laudable goal in life. Each generation feels that way as they get older, but somehow I think it's worse now than ever before. ....

I will drink a scotch for Jack. I think he was in some of the old Gunsmoke TV episodes also. I generally remember him in westerns more than anything else.

As far as the world falling apart, I think that Plato said the same thing a while back. Things seem to have a way of working themselves out even though the world changes. ....

Hey, just because I'm a pessimist doesn't mean we're not circling the drain LOL I'll join you in that drink. ....
