John Deere 110 Tractor Air Pressure in Cooling System

I have a 2008 JD 110 tlb. I'm having coolant problems. tractor has a yanmar engine, model 4TNV88.

It will run ok for a few minutes, then start pushing coolant out the reservoir. With the radiator cap removed, I can see air bubbles coming out.

I had the cylinder head machined and reinstalled. that seemed to work for a few hours, then same problem.

I installed a new cylinder head no change.

If anyone has an idea, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks!

Did the shop use a new gasket when the head was put back?

THANKS FOR RESPONDING.

Then (assuming they checked the block surface and they properly torqued new headbolts over the right gasket), gotta be something in the block. Too bad -- that's a fine engine in an excellent tractor, but I think they'll have to tear into it again to see what they missed. Could the coolant ever have frozen?

Xb30546,

There's an easy and inexpensive way to check things over before tearing the engine down again.

Perform a compression check on each cylinder. A compression tester gauge is installed in the glow plug port of each cylinder....one cylinder at a time.

The engine is then cranked over about five full revolutions per cylinder. An average of the 5 separate compression readings is then used to determine the final value. (Yanmar's specifications for this test may vary slightly from those I have described above.)

After the compression test is completed, you'll then know whether or not you have a bad cylinder. You'll also know exactly which cylinder is causing the problem.......though you won't be able to tell whether the problem is with the block, or the head.

I hope this helps.

Joel

I too have a JD 110 loader backhoe with to same problem. I first just replaced the head gasket and now got the head mag tested and shaved and it is still the same. I am curious if you got yours fixed and if you would share the remedy?

I HAD TO STRIP THE BLOCK, AND TAKE BOTH THE BLOCK & HEAD TO BE MACHINED.

THIS DID THE TRICK.
