 KK 72 for TC 40

Going to purchase a tiller. Was debating a 72", but not sure if it's too much for 35hp PTO.... anybody with experience along these lines?

I just got a 60" for my tc33d, works great but not real pretty. There's a lot of talk about King Kutters in the tiller & plow active subjects.

I bought the 60" my JD4310 with 25 PTO hp (hp taken from the literature). It ran the tiller with no problem at all. Granted, it was dirt, no roots and no clay. I ran it deep and it kicked butt. How it would do in a grassy field, I do not know as I haven't tried it. Maybe I should try it...

I would think you want a tiller width sufficient in size to cover your tracks. You will need a minimum of 72". I have run a 60" KK on 27 gross HP without any issues. Have had plenty of power to break shear pins when hitting rocks and big tree roots.

I have a 72" KK that I bought for my TC35DA. The tractor is physically too big for the tiller,so I picked up an older 24hp Kabota to run it. This really works great, enough power to run the tiller in pto 2nd and the tractor in 1low.The tractor is about a foot narrower on each side so working up against an edge is easy, not so w/the NH.

interesting...does anyone know how wide the distance is between the outside of the rear tires for the TC35/40/45...I don't see it in the literature.
I wonder how wide the TC29 and 33 are?

TC40 is 70 3/4" the TC33 is 59 1/2". Measured with R-4 tires at the edge of the tread. Add 3" to the 40 to get the side wall to side wall and 2.5" to the 33.

35 PTO HP should be plenty for that tiller.

I run the KK 60" on my B2410 bota without issues, except when I hit a rather large tree root, then it stops the tractor dead. Other than than it churns the soil whether its heavy clay or light loam just fine, including heavy grassy soil. I just did behind my house so I can regrade, and except for the afore mentioned tree roots from some very large Maple trees, it went through it like butter. The B2410 has a rating of only 18 PTO HP. The Recommended PTO HP for the 60" is 25-40, recommended for the 72" is 35-50, so if 18 HP can push a 60" rated at 25-40, the 35 should drive the 72" like a wild thing outa control.

The KK 72 runs great with the TC40.... glad I opted for the 72 vs 60. Thanks to all for the input.

Yep! tc40 with 4/wd will do the job just fine. Laughing out loud
I was plowing one of my fields this weekend. Was not going to but if the big boys are out there why can't I? This field has a few low spots and is for the most part low to begin with. I was skeptical at first but after I got her in the mud I was amazed. Only thing slowing me down from mid range 2nd gear was in the 2 real low spots where the ground under me was giving way. Lift the plow up and she walks right thru. I am still amazed at these machines and what they can do.
Good luck with yours!
Tom
