I have the gas version, GR2010 that I just bought a few weeks ago with the 48" deck. I have been very impressed with the cut on my lawn. Very nice. Really shoots the clippings out the side. So much that it shot hard dog doo across the driveway.

I know that doesn't have anything to do with cut quality, but it is impressive until you have to go clean it up or your wife yells at the dog for pooing in the driveway.

I've only had it for 2 weeks, but I cannot complain about the cut quality.

I agree on the lawyers. I've been reading the Kubota manual and it's one line of instruction per 10+ lines of lawyer warnings. What if we bypassed the safety switch and backed over all the lawyers?

I know people at the Wichita plant where it was made but I don't even know if that PN is still in production. Odds are they are sitting in one of the parts warehouses in NA. Do you have a PN for them that I could run down? All I can do is ask, can't get them for free, but I can ask and see what the price would be... Lots of stuff sitting in those warehouses...

I ended up in Wisconsin. Job I moved for was a nightmare, move was a nightmare. Sold my JD cut since it was too much for living in the burbs with only 1 acre. But for awhile I had the biggest lawn mower in the neighborhood!

Ironically, I quit that job and now I work for Case - New Holland. I'd prefer a NH 1025 but the employee discount is only ok at best, but I can get into a used Kubota GR for about 1/3 the price.

I've used a loader and a rear blade to move snow with a tractor. I've also used ATV's with a plow in the past and snowblowers. For bigger drives like what you are looking at, I'd go with the tractor. It's less strain on the F150 and the tractor is usually built to handle work.

Using the loader worked ok for clearing the top of the driveway between the barn & the main house garage. Limited area, not a long drive. The loader is good for clearing snow drifts too. I would sometimes use the loader to clear snow and once full, keep pushing like a plow. But my tractor had 4x4. I used an old 2wd tractor in a similar fashion, but it was much easier to spin the wheels. Drawback of using a loader is moving the gravel back in spring.

For the main drive, I used a rear blade angled to kick the snow out the side. But my main drive usually didn't have deep snow due to being the highest point around so the wind kept it fairly clear.

Depending on the size of the gravel on the drive, I think a tractor with a blower would be the sweatest setup. But I lacked the $$ to pull that off. So I stuck with the loader and $75 rear blade. If you have deeper snow to clear with a rear blade, I'd be sure to have a 4x4 tractor to get the extra traction. Be wary though, wet snows and spinning tractor tires cause ice really fast. That's why I have a 4x4 tractor instead of a 2wd tractor anymore. I had a really bad experience with wet snow and the 2wd tractor. If you must have a 2wd tractor, I'd put a blower out front or a front blade so the rear tires are running in the cleaned path.

I'll help, but I don't loan out the expensive stuff. Just too much money tied up into it and people just don't respect the property of others anymore. Not to mention the liability if something goes wrong. First thing people do is hire a lawyer and go after the good guy who helped someone out.

Rocks were a problem for me 12/13 years ago. Some idiot was mowing his lawn up on the shoulder of the road with the deck exit pointed at the road. He shot rocks into the side of my 1 month old pickup. A couple of inches higher and it would have been in my face. I watch for cars now and stop mowing so I can let them go by without risk of shooting debris into them.

Some good questions are being asked and good points being made. As the owner of a JD 4310 and a 72" MMM, here is my take.

Someone asked about what else you plan on doing with the tractor. That is a big key. At my last place, I mowed about 3 acres. So in summer, mowing was the dominant use. In winter, clearing snow was the dominant use. In between the two seasons is when other work was done like hauling dirt, manure, etc. So in summer, I typically didn't use the loader much and the usage was usually such that I had no need to removed the MMM.

so if mowing is the dominant use, I like MMM. If I had to take the mower off regularly, I'd go with a rear mower. I find my MMM nice because I can see instantly where I am in relation to an object. I've bashed things using rear mounted equipment. So that is something to consider. If you have a lot of objects in your yard, you may want a zero-turn machine. But if you don't, then a MMM or rear mount would work fine.

I had some big open areas where the advantage of a ZTR really didn't come into play. Other areas with trees and obstacles, a ZTR would have kicked my butt. But most ZTR's I've seen would have shook my teeth loose on the rougher ground compared to the 4310.

Ok, the 3320 has ~32 hp according to the Deere site. I have a 4310 at 32 hp so they are pretty comparable. I love it!

I use a 72" Belly mower (referred to as a Mid-Mount Mower or MMM) and it often did better around trees than our little JD325 lawn tractor. But watch for branch height. It can hit the ROPS.

As for snow, with the 4wd, I had no issues with traction. But I would make sure you have weight on the back to counter any weight on the front. Some like using a box blade on the rear 3pt as it's heavy to counter the weight on the front plus you can lower it to push snow with it while going backwards.

That sized tractor can do a lot of stuff. As far as a full load of rocks is concerned, um... depends on the weight of rock. Don't do anything that would jeapardize your safety. Twice as many trips using the tractor is still way better than loading a wheelbarrow using a shovel. It also depends on what you have for counter weight at the back of the tractor. If you use the loader, have weight in the back. I've picked the rear wheels off the ground before using an old tractor. It's exciting, but not the fun kind.

Thanks for the input guys. I do 95% of the cooking so the range is pretty much for me. My wife is afraid of gas, but we've lived with gas furnaces and hot water heaters since we were married. So I don't really understand the issue.

A couple of years ago, we upgraded our pots & pans to a nice set of Analon. That made a big difference in cooking. That was on an older GE basic electric range. So I'd like to step up with this new range. I should measure the length of gas line and get a quote on what it will cost to have gas run to the range spot.

I hate cleaning the stove so I like the idea of better temp control w/ gas or the easier cleaning of the smoothtop.

KT - yeah, got a house finally. Long & painful saga. But only 1 acre. I'm waiting for spring to see if keeping teh 4310 makes sense. I really missed it this February when I suddenly had to clean a driveway coated in ice because it wasn't maintained since the house was empty until we bought it. That sucked. I may go get the tractor tomorrow if I can get the garage cleaned up enough to find space for it.

Like some of the behavior, the shopping is probably a compulsion or an effect of the illness. For many people, shopping makes them feel better/happy with immediate gratification. The drawback is in the long run they are angry with themselves for doing it and causing the debt. I've known more than one person that used shopping and wine to make themselves feel better. It was only good for addressing the immediate bad feelings but made things worse in the long run.

Hang in there and make sure you are a rock for your kids. But don't forget to take care of yourself.

Well, glad you found it. I've found the aux lights to be very useful when working in dark conditions. Better yet, they were great for hooking up attachments in a dark shed.

I guess I just don't really believe anything I see advertised anymore. Too much slight of hand and purposely tricky lingo is used. But not everyone does research like I do when it comes to big ticket purchases.

A 5,000 lbs trailer with electric brakes? So they got pretty cheesy with that one. Don't get me wrong, but the electric brake thing is very misleading especially if the stock truck isn't equipped with a brake controller. I think if anyone pushed it with a letter from a lawyer, Toyota would back down.

People can complain all they want about winter in the Midwest. But the Midwest is a pretty nice place to live. Yes, we have winters. Some are easier than others. Buy a plow or snowblower an you'll be fine. We don't get huricanes, our earthquakes are rarely noticed, the mud in your house is from the dog tracking it in, not the mountainside collapsing and we don't have crocodiles or alligators.

We still have rednecks and such. With larger areas, you can get some good variety of foods too. So all in all, the midwest isn't a bad place to live.

I have a Ruger .22 lever action rifle. A very nice gun. I need a better scope for it though. It's a cheap $20 type scope no where close to the quality of hte rifle. The rifle holds 10 rounds in a small/simple clip. It's been a great gun for shooting at gophers. I like it but it wasn't cheap.

Nuruadv - your wife is mad? My wife wasn't thrilled with the 4310. Then she mowed with it. I couldn't get her off the tractor. It took her being pregnant to get her off the tractor so I could use it. She loves the 4310 compared to our JD 325 mower. I do too.

I use a regular floor jack positioned under the front axle (wooden block in between) to raise up the wheels. My 72" MMM has those front wheels that pivot and are adjustable. Well, their height is tall enough that they hit some lines and such underneath the 4310. I tried ramps once, but then I didn't have enough distance to slide it between the ramps and the rear tires. More cussing ensued. I can take the deck off and on in about 15 minutes now. I wouldn't do it often, but it's not terrible.
