New Holland TC29 Will not Start

I cannot get my TC29 Started

My tc 29 new holland will not start i have checked all the fuses and they are good. I think the battery is good also, all the lights come on but when i turn the switch i only hear a click sound. I think it could be the starter but how do I know for sure?

WHERE DO I LOOK TO SEE EXACTLY IF ITS MY CLUTCH OR PTO SAFETY SWITCHES THATS KEEPING IT FROM STARTING?

If they're not indicated in the owners manual, they should be easy to identify by a pair of wires coming out of a switch at the bottom of the seat and under the pedal or its link.

It would probably be a good investment to buy a service manual.

Owners manuals only cover routine maintenance; service ones go into the type of trouble-shooting and repairing you're facing, but are costly. Sorry if I gave the impression I was being critical.

Replaced fuses, tried wiggling pto to engage starter, tried to check for safety switches on pto, seat, and clutch wasnt really sure of location but i think theyre good. i hooked up jumper cables and a now instead of just a single click i am getting a high pitched squel coming from a relay behind the switch. it the only one thats totally different from all the others. thought it was gonna crank , it turned over once slightly but then back to nothing. i checked the battery good there to please help please help. what is that relay if anyone knows and how do i jump it from the starter to the selenoid exactly?

If the starter solenoid is not getting enough juice it can click, if it gets a little more it is able to move the sprocket towards the flywheel but not all the way so what you hear is the the small sprocket spinning at high RPM's because it is not turning the flywheel. Sometimes the juice might be enough to partially engage the flywheel and engage and almost start and then loses juice and releases the flywheel.

Corroded connections from the battery to the solenoid should be looked for, or a bad solenoid.

Been a long time since I did this but you just buy a remote starter switch to bypass your ignition switch. Connect one end to the Positive battery terminal and the other to the solenoid terminal. You can buy the switch for $12 at Autozone or any auto parts store.

Doing what Dennis says will tell you a lot. It's a box the size of a cig pack with a button on it, and two long wires coming out, each ending in an alligator. If it spins when you press the button, check the battery cables and starter switch.

If you can't get to a store but have wiring, clips, connectors, and an on-off switch, you could make yourself an external starter/tester. (Or if you have mail delivery, you could order one.) Otherwise you could try shorting the starter terminals, but be careful and make sure it's in neutral with the brake on.

The first things to check are the battery cables and starter switch. If you can't use a multimeter to do this, if it spins properly when you bypass both, you know it has to be one of them causing the problem. One way is to press a metal object across the starter terminals, called shorting or jumping. You'll get crackles and sparks. The better way is to run a wire from the positive (larger, maybe with a red cover) terminal to an on-off switch to the starter terminal. Which is the starter terminal? If there are two large terminals plus a smaller one, it will be the smaller one. If not, you'll have to go by trial-and-error.
