OK, here is a question for you landscape experts. What depth should the topsoil be over my water trench? Our restoration crews that sub-contract the repair of gas and electric trenches are required to use 4". I have started the project and used 4"-6" so far, but think I am over doing it a bit. Most of the trench is 16" wide, except for the normal peripheral damage on much of it.
