I lost my cooland after a hose came off while bushogging. I replaced coolant with water to get me home. Will water work as well?

Antifreeze in the right proportion raises the boil point a bit, and contains additives that supposedly protect the components, but plain water will do the main job. Besides, you lost it only from the rad, so there'd still be some original coolant in the block.

Now would be a convenient time to run it with cleaner for a few hours. Then drain the rad, fill with water, and run. Repeat a few times. Then a final drain to put in the optimal proportion of antifreeze. ....
