 Finish mowing with a B7610

I'm looking to buy a B7610 in the spring. I'm just wondering on how good of a finish cut this machine does. It will have a 60"MMM and turf tires. Currently I mow 3 acres with a Wheel Horse with a 48" deck. I have a nice lawn and just want to ask current owners of this model if you have any opinions.

 Finish mowing with a B7610

I had a Wheel Horse witha 42" deck that I mowed with. I now have the B7610 with the 60" MMM and turfs.

I have gotten more complements on the eveness of the cut with the Kubota than I ever got with the WH.

The B7610 will go thru tall grass with no problem, the only thing is that with the extra weight I find that I prefer cutting when the lawn is really very dry, and since it cuts so much better than the WH I can wait until conditions are optimal. Faster better cut a real winner

Dennis

No contest. I too had a Wheel Horse. It was a good garden tractor but just not up to the task on my hilly property. The only drawback of the Kubota is also true of any machine with a wide deck. If your lawn has lots of dips and rolls the deck will ride over them leaving the low spots long and risk scalping the high spots. Spend some time getting the deck set up correctly for your lawn and mow around the tricky spots with the edge of the deck, not the middle.

jarndt,

I assume the comment you made the on the 60" deck is about your BX 1500? If so the deck on the B7610 is not the same as yours, on the BX 1500 thru BX 2230 a floating deck fits that tractor, whereas on the B series like the B7610 all of the MMM are ground engaging decks that do not have the problem you describe.

You are correct. The 54" deck on my BX1500 is a "floating" type and the 60" on the B7610 is ground engaging, but the problem is more a function of the deck width not as much the way the deck is mounted (although that certainly does make a difference). If the high and low spots in the ground are less then the span between the caster wheels or shorter than the deck is from front to back, the deck can still scalp or leave uncut grass. If your lawn is reasonably flat it's not an issue. I'm just lazy and haven't gone through the effort of leveling some of the really uneven spots in my lawn!

I have a B7510 with the 60" deck and moved up from a Cub Cadet with a 42" deck. The cut is much better. I had one spot where the mower scalped, and I knocked it down with the loader and reseeded. No more issue.

Thanks for all the info guys. I've pretty much figured out the above mentioned potential issuses. I guess what I'm more concerned about is the finished look if it dosen't scalp the lawn.

 Finish mowing with a B7610

I purchased a B7610 last july and like you I finish mow about 4 acres. I am really happy with the results. I also mow for several family members. I now have 85 hrs on my tractor and am still really pleased. I have r4 tires and they are easier on the lawn than I thought they would be. (just watch the turns) I also use mine for box blading and bush hogging and planting feed plots for wildlife so the r4's really do me justice.
