Getting ready for 200-hour service on HST3130. Looks like manual calls for replacing both hydraulic fluid filters, but reusing the fluid drained out. any of you with long and/or commercial experience have any thoughts on wisdom of springing for the big bucks to go ahead and replace with new fluid. (existing fluid looks fine on dipstick.)

Change the fluid. For the $35 it will cost, it's worth knowing that the fluid is fresh. We change the fluid on everything. ....

I guess $35 was shot too low, but we're paying $15-18/Gallon for Super UDT. Shouldn't cost more than $180 to change the fluids. A far cry from $35 I agree, but still worth the $'s. (IHO) ....

I'm with Beagle. The best thing you can do for your machine is to change the fluids very frequently. $180 won't buy much in the way of repairs if something breaks so preventive maintenance is the best insurance. ....

It is your money but you don't have to change the fluid. Factory spec is 800 to 1000 hours. Just don't reuse any that drains out when the filters are removed just top off. Remember to fill the filters with fluid prior to reinstalling them to prevent a dry run up the pump. ....
