My hour meter was 497.8 a little bit later it had a error reading eeprm, disconnected bat to reset, meter started at 0. what gives?

Okay it went to ZERO but did it go back to working? If not seems you need a new hour meter. Would suggest you keep memory on the hours when it failed. ....
