The culprit is your mulching kit. It is only the fact that you are trying to mulch a larger quanity of grass than the system can handle at once. When you cut in reverse, it changes the flow of the system, allowing it to process it through faster. First , no it should be ok weight-wise since the majority of the weight of a sickle bar mower is behind the tractor on the 3pth. Second, don't try to use it for ANYTHING but what it was designed for, mowing hay. However tempting it may be, do not try to cut road-sides, ditches, hill-sides, etc. with it. After some 20+ years of landscaping I have seen COUNTLESS sickle-bars used this way, usually their life expectancy can be counted in hours after starting that kind of work. Lastly, I question the 4000lbs figure, I think you are under-estimating your machine's bulk, especially with cab & loader.........

Unless I'm sadly mistaken, (I'm a man so it happens constantly, she tells me....) my little gray cells recall that water is 10lb/gallon, I cannot believe that CaCl & H2O together don't weigh considerably more than that. Here, for what it is worth, is the benefit of MUCH experience & experimenting;<br>1) Dana is right...flat & level is very important.<br>2) if you have an adjustable lift arm, both must be EXACT same length.<br>3) blocks under implements are preference, just make sure blocks are level.<br>4) put a bungee cord between the arms (of the 3pth, lol)to ensure tractor is centered when backing into the implement.<br>5) 'quick-hitch' gadgets can be handy, but also can be a PAIN, too much motion, etc., IMHO, unnecessary for home use, better to stick with flat and level.<br>Best of luck & be careful.

Use a fixed-type broom, sort of like a huge push or barn broom, but with a 3pth braket on it. The ones we use are made by a company called Gro-tech, I think they are shown on Eastern Farm Equipments site, www.eastermfarmachinery.com???<br>The big advantage to that style is the sand ends up in a pile, instead of dust the customers cars!
