I find the easiest, fastest thing is a compact tractor (with cab obviously) with a snow blade instead of the bucket on the front loader. It clears just as fast as a truck, but will also do the sidewalks, stack snow, and spread salt/sand better than a truck. With the bucket re-installed (5 min. job) it will load trucks for off-site disposal. Come spring it will sweep the sand/salt residue away (just don't use a rotary broom, dust everywhere!!!) in record time.

Slickest one I've seen was a plastic garbage can, with a hole just large enough in each side for a draw-bar to be poked through, fill with concrete & ta-da!! Adjust height of draw-bar & concrete for desired weight and balance, no need for a top link, gravity works fine, just like a pendulum. Trim excess plastic off above concrete with sharp knife afterwards. Total cost, probably under $50.00......

I have turfs on all 4 corners of EVERY one of my machines(6 Kubota's), they do about 50/50 loader and other chores, never had a ripped tire yet. Wear shouldn't be a problem, if your tires are spinning doing loader work, or anything else, you're doing it WRONG. Besides my Bridgestone 235/85R20's have a higher weight rating than the R4's do, go figure........

Larry:<br>As the owner/operator of a fleet of compacts doing snow removal as well as summer maintenance, yes, you should use a heater. I have found a couple of slick little items at the auto parts places that makes a big differtence with cold weather starting of any small engine. First is an electric blanket for your battery, you lose a LOT of the battery's capacity as temp. drops, crank long enough and you can seriously affect battery life expectancy. Second is a magnetic heater, stick it to the oil pan for an hour or two prior to use and in conjunction with a block heater, our Kubota L3450's can be kept at almost running temp. just by being plugged in. Without a doubt, the fastest, easiest way is a frontmounted power angle blade, either as a stand alone unit, or replacement for the bucket of a loader (my preference). As long as there are no trees etc. on the sidewalks you should be done in no time. Also with a blade on the loader frame you can easily stack snow with it, and with the bucket back on can easily load trucks to haul it away. A broom makes sping clean-up of sand a breeze, and will dethatch grass in record time, but, do NOT get a rotary broom, it will only make the sand airborne to cover everything in dust and get everybody really ticked off at you!! The techies at Kubota told me the turf shredding is merely a result of an efficient drive system versus grass, the turf ALWAYS loses. I have recently been spec'ing pillow block turfs (235/85R20's) on all my machines, yes, ESPECIALLY for loader work. Many more lugs mean many more points of traction, plus they have the highest weight rating, even more than the R4's, and they are unbeatable for hills, snow, ice, and wet turf.

For what the benefit of experience is worth..... I operate a commercial landscaping business in which we use a small fleet of compact's (presently 6 of them), and they operate 12 months a year. I have tried every make out there over the years, and even operate a few customers equipment for them. Without a doubt, there is no beating a Kubota, period. Some features on other machines may seem more convenient, some spec.'s may look more impressive, BUT, after at least 25 machines, over 15 years, and probably 125,000+ hours in total, I wouldn't hesitate to recomend or buy another Kubota. I know I will be flooded with comments over this but, its like trucks, they all work, what works for YOU is whats important. I have only had ONE breakdown in all that time, an injector pump.

We found a very simple solution to the problem years ago..........TOPSOIL. Try keeping a yard or so of good quality topsoil around, when you notice a hole or depression, fill it in!! As a commercial landscaper with several Kubota's, we had the same problem with L3450's with belly mount decks. Our solution was to mount a small light designed for the box of a pickup truck (outside courtesy/cargo light) on each side of the tractor, directly above each front wheel. These are bright enough to gently light each side of the deck, the tire itself, and a few feet to the front, killing the shadow between machine and where the headlights hit the ground. They are not so bright that the glare or power consumtion is a problem. Good luck.

I concede the point indeed, it seems I was misled by Kubota themselves, hmmmmm...........could it be that there was an error in the translation from Japanese to English.............NO!!!!! It seems my owners manual quotes a different spec. than you speak of, and talks about LIFT points, not HITCH points. I owe you a beer, sir, but not if you're driving your tractor, ok ?

Do NOT connect the lines together or you will have no pressure. As far as sizing goes, select hoses and valve to match flow required by the implement, larger diameter = higher flow = more $$$$, but, be sure to get one that is OPEN CENTER or your hydraulics will not work. Your local dealer (parts dept.) can show you exactly what you need, and probably make the hoses for you too if you know the length needed.
