I have not heard of this shortage but it does seem to put you in a good bargaining position. The 430 loader is a much better loader. I'd ask to get it for the 420 price, or a substatial discount.

<br>I have seen Boom poles that hook up to 3 point hitches. The ones Ihave seen have a hook at the end but the range of motion is only the 3 point range. If you have a Quality farm and Fleet or a Tractor Supply store, look in their catalogs.

I agree with Lee and Stanley. Mow what you can with a rotary cutter. You will be surprised at how fast the pasture grass comes back. As for the larger saplings, I would wait until the leaves are off this fall and then cut them off as close to the ground as you can with a chain saw. No bigger than they are the roots should rot in a couple of years and the stumps should come out without much effort. If the stumps bush up in the spring hit them with Roundup and wait a couple of weeks for the roots to die before you mow. If you have a loader on your tractor you can try to push the lager trees over. Depending on soil conditions, etc., they may push over and uproot. Simply put the loader bucket against the tree and ease in. If the tree topples, fine. If not, use the chan saw. Don't abuse your equipment by ramming trees or stumps with your loader. I don'y know how you feel about trees but you may some desireable species among your volunteers. Would not hurt to have someone who knows something about them advise you on what should go and what are worth saving.

That sounds like a decent price. I have a 1920 w/4 wheel drive and shuttle. I have 850 hrs. I found that the Ag tires were tearing up my lawn so I switched to turf tires filled only with air. I was assuming that I would need chains or calcium for snow plowing. Surprisingly I had no problems this winter, even climbing hills with more than 30 inches of snow (Michigan). I use an 8 foot flail mower and I mow 7 acres. It's never failed to start and never needed anything but routine service. <br>

I have a JD 955 with a loader and I have a chance to purchase a Kelley 2000 3pt hitch backhoe. Will this fit correctly on my JD and does the Kelley Hoe have a sub frame or will I just tear up my machine. I plan to use it for light work,shallow trench, planting trees etc.

I have an 87 Allis Chamber. It is a 21hp pto. I have had a woods 750bh on it for three years and it has worked wonderfully. Woods said not to put it on this model but I built a subframe to tie the tractor together, hung it on the 3ph and have been digging ever since.

I found a 4300 wtih a 430 loader. It is about 4 months old with 200 hours.$13,100.<br>Does that sound like a fair price? I'm thinking about selling my Allis Chambers 5020.<br>It is a 21 hp pto with a two cylinder deisel 720 hrs. Any idea on an asking price <br>for it and a 5' king cutter finishing mower? I tried what you about to do, refernce clearing. Started felling the trees and limbing them and piling the limbs up with all the stems lined up in the same direction. When I got exhausted several weeks later, and determined I needed a pro I found out that all the work I had done was going to cost me more than if I had done nothing.<br>Why? Because Land clearing done by Pro's is done differently than you or I can do it even if we have deep pockets for Toys.<br>A Pro can come in with equipment that can fell the tree and eat it into mulch in one step. Barring that the Pro's have a way they work that's different than what you do.<br>The Pro's also know what wood has value for Mills, if you have one large Black walnut, they clear it for free.<br>I did not have any prize lumber so I did not get it for free, I paid $1,000 per acre to have it cleared chipped and all logs removed and the groud ready to Stump.<br>Refrence stumping, the physical stumping is cheaply done by bulldozer, what cost money is the hauling of the stumps off yor property

I am lloking at a Kioti LK3054 also with a front loader. The dealer wants 14000 for the unit. I am interested in how you like yours and how reliable it is. I have about 17 acres with a mixture of woods and pasture and loads of rocks. would appreciate your input.

A compact tractor is your best option. I went with a small 18 hp gas tractor when I first bought my property and I really worked the heck out of it. I came to the realization not long after I bought it that I would need a larger tractor. This year I bought a JD 4100, it has been great! My mowing requirements are similar to yours in that the acre that my house sits on has trees, the house, an outbuilding and a barn. I was concerned that I may need both a garden tractor and a compact. The 4100 however is a small enough tractor to negotiate all of these tight turns and narrow places, I was really impressed with the turning radious. When it comes to the rest of the property, I have been having alot of fun with the loader, rear blade and york rake. The things I can now do myself, I used to have to rent or hire it done. Final thought, look at the 20 plus HP compacts, locate the best dealer near you, green, ornge or blue and go for it, You won't regret it.<br>
