I am looking at a Yanmar 186D, 4-wheel drive tractor. I think it is around a 1980-81 model. My boss bought it before he died. Can anyone tell me approx. what it's worth? Also, if I buy it, I'll want to put a belly mower on it. Can you suggest a brand/model that would fit this particular tractor?Thanks,-Jim

Jim,I have a 1986 186D that has a Woods mid mount. I think the tricky part might be getting the Yanmar brackets to mount it.I don't know if they are still available from Woods or not. Good luck,Its a nice tractor! ....

I owned a 1986 Yanmar 186D a few years back. I bought it from a Case dealer that had taken it in on trade and did not want it in his shop. I paid $5,000 F.O.B. my home. I used it for nearly three years. I dug a french drain with a 7' sump, a 40' foundation excavation for an addition to a home and hauled numerous concrete block, used brick and removed trees. After nearly three years I sold it for exactly what I had paid for it. That individual kept it for a little over a year and sold it for the exact same amount. The person that has it now has a small farm and refuses to part with the machine. The machine had a 5' front loader bucket and a 12" backhoe bucket that dug to 6' 10". The tractor alone was worth the $5,000. I am curently building a new home on 28 acres and when I purchase a machine to handle the land the Yanmar will be on the top of my list. Excellent machine and believe me diesel is the way to go. They run hard and steady and Yammar is the largest diesel manufacturer in the world. Dealers can be tough to find but the internet helps to alleviate the problem. Good Luck! ....
