I've wondered about the difference between the LA401 and LA402 loaders myself. My B2710 has the LA401 loader and if they've been able to make one easier to removed and put back on the tractor, I don't know how they did it. Mine only takes about two and a half minutes.

I picked up a new 790,4wd,wloader, R4s,ballest box, brush hog - and a new hat for 15K. Unless you are doing all lawn work go for the R4s. They are hard to find but the dealer let me use the turf until he located a 4set. No scuffing - I've had Ford and IH and I love my 790.

These are some GREAT comments from all of you since I struggled with the cost vs. current need issue. I could have got by with a 4100 or B7300 but for just a little more I went for the B2710. Cutter, you say you lost $4K in the deal, I spent $2.5K more than I wanted to but I guess it might be worth it. Check in a year from now! Got 4.5 acres to mow, 300' driveway and one horse to tend to, can't wait to get mine delivered. C. W. said you don't hear complaints of too much power, I learned that lesson playing around with boats years back, it's hard to ADD horsepower.

As a brand new Boomer TC29D owner, I'm dying to find out if there is a Boomer Club out there. I looked them all over (Green, Orange, Red, and of course, BLUE)and the Boomers just reached out and grabbed me! I love all of the features and found that in direct comparison to the orange one (my dealer has both) the Boomer was the best bang for my buck. I purchased a TC29D with a 914A 60" mid mount mower. It has performed VERY WELL in all of the heavy spring grass - some 14-16" high. Great cut - Great finish. I am interested in not only fully investingating the CTB, but find out if there is a Boomer club or "E-Mail List" somewhere out there in cyberspace. Anybody know where I can get a Boomer Hat?

I let the hydraulic oil get low to the point that the lift quit working.<br>I refilled it with "Universal Tractor Fluid" from NAPA that listed it<br>being compatible for use in alot of brands made in Japan but it didnt list<br>Yanmar. Now the hydraulic lift works ok when I first start the the tractor after sitting a while but the longer I run it the worse it gets until it quits working again. The oil looks to be foaming. Did I ruin the pump or is this<br>the wrong type of oil???<br>

Is is possible to use the 3 point fertilzer spreaders like you can buy at TSC (picture linked below) for both fertilzer and seed spreading? I can't think of a reason why not, but I've never used one and don't know about clogging or other potential problems for dual uses. I would be using it to spread bermuda seed (just overseeding) in the spring and rye in the fall and fertilzer when appropriate.

Well I just got a 855 with 350hrs on it. when you stop (remove your foot off the hdro pedel) it will creep forward & backwards aswell, I can't find a spot that it will stand still, does any one have any idea's? my 755 never have this problem, this could be dangerous!<br>

There is a JD 4400 posted under "classifieds" at the top of the web page for $18,750. You might need to extrapolate a price for yours based on different equipment, etc. and I don't know if that one sold for that price. I think there is about a $1,000 difierent in the new price of a 4300 and 4400. Somebody else may know for sure.

Bad News!

That 4400 turned into a 4600 and is delivering today. All this started because of a lever that didn't do anything om my 445. I really need to stay away from that place.

Thanks for the advice, Wider is better in this case and i liked the reversable rims. We are still a few hundred apart on the deal but it should wash out today.

Terry, my understanding is that the 4500-4700 series use a servo-driven hydrostatic control (like the Kubota GrandL series), but the 4100-4400 series do not have the servo. The servo control is supposed to give a lighter, smoother hydro control, but some will find the controls too light or touchy, especially on rough terrain. There were several posts to this effect from Kubota owners last fall/winter on either this board or tractorbynet. On my 4400, there are two hydro pedal "settings" that the dealer can set up that affect pedal pressure. I think this is an eccentric or cam setting on the linkage that connects to the return springs, but I'm not sure. I don't know if the 4600 has a similar arrangement or not. I had the dealer set my 4400 on the lighter setting, which works well on the 4400.

I am looking at purchasing a vermeer treespade mounted on a vermeer articulated tractor. the treespade will cut a rootball approx 42" across and 40" deep. the machine is from the late 60's to early 70's. it has always been stored inside a heated shop year round except when in use. current owner has owned it about 12 years. current user has only used it on his personal proerty, no commercial use.<br>any help would be appreciated.

Mike, the spacing between the teeth on drag harrows is way to broad for anything even close to 'lawn' grade, besides they are notorious for grabbing the edges of ant hills, etc., and tearing out hunks of turf. I've found that the best tractor-powered way to dethatch an area of turf, be it K-31, or other, is an 'old-style' pto (NOT ground-driven) hay rake, the type that has a continous row of teeth that turn between two wheels about 8' apart, leaving a wind-row at one side. this type of equip. allows you to adjust height and speed (both travel, and implement) to get the optimum effect as conditions, etc., change. Then all you have to do is gather up the row of thatch. Best of luck.

I did a lot of research into both tractors, and asked a ton of questions to the dealers, and Jack, who patiently answered each of them. When it came down to it, the reason that I bought the Ventrac was for the had control and the larger engine. I'm not too sure that the large engine makes a ton of difference in going up and down hills, but the hand control for driving the thing, was a BIG sell for me. I just did not like leaning forward all of the time to drive the Steiner around. I live in Lancaster County, PA which is probably just short of Ohio in the amount of Steiner and Ventrac dealers, so that wasn't a problem.

Click on the picture link, and you can see a pic of the Ventrac that I bought. I really use this thing a lot. I mow 2.5 arces, and have a slip scoop that I have using the heck out of. There are some neat features that the Steiner does not have, although the Steiner is a really nice unit too.
