I let the hydraulic oil get low to the point that the lift quit working.I refilled it with "Universal Tractor Fluid" from NAPA that listed itbeing compatible for use in alot of brands made in Japan but it didnt listYanmar. Now the hydraulic lift works ok when I first start the the tractor after sitting a while but the longer I run it the worse it gets until it quits working again. The oil looks to be foaming. Did I ruin the pump or is thisthe wrong type of oil???

If being low on oil didn't hurt it, I doubt that the wrong oil has had time to do much harm. The proper oil for the combination hydraulic/transmission on that tractor is John Deere's 303. Most oils will state on the container whether they are rated the same as JD 303 or not. I've also seen it called trans/hydraulic oil....but the container always mentions JD 303. ....
