Does anyone have a cross-over reference for NH filters to Fram or other companies? It gives me heartburn to pay the ridiculous $$ at my friendly local dealer. No wonder he's always smilin...Thanks

You might check box store automotive parts counters. I've heard that some auto filter suppliers now have tables that cross-reference with tractors. There also are after-market tractor parts suppliers. I've heard that some filter manufacturers have cross-reference tables available on the web.
I know, that's all very general and not directly helpful but I've never looked for substitutes very hard. I go through about one set of filters a year and I find that it's not enough money even at NH prices to spend much time looking for substitutes. There are some long discussions in the archives about comparable specs between original and substitute filters. A cross-referenced filter basically means that it screws on and the gasket seals, and it will handle the flow. The filtering is not necessarily equivalent to factory equipment.

NAPA did have tractor filter cross reference tables and filters for most tractors. They may not have them in stock though. I have not seen many cross references at other dealers but can get some from my local.
I would not necessarily go with Fram as some of their filters are subpar. ....

Wix has a great filter cross reference on thier web site.
For example: most of the boomer (TC29,TC33etc)oil filters seem to be widely used on many small engines such as
Kohler B&S, etc.

NAPA has the hydro filter for 24 bucks compaired to the $53 I paid from the NH dealer. No other filters in their system at this time. Thanks for the posts everybody.
FYI - speaking of Amsoil, that's what I've got in this tractor all the way around. For those of you that have that cccold weather hydrostatic whine & sluggishness before a 5 minute warm up, the Amsoil took care of it. I imagine other synthetic hydro oil would do the same thing tho. ....

I used the NH "semi synthetic" in mine and it also took care of that problem, for those that don't want to spend the $$ on Amsoil. ....

Doesn't it just make you think that something might be a miss when the same filter is used for a twin or single cylinder gas engine that takes 1 quart of oil, as a 3 or 4 cylinder diesel engine that takes 4 quarts of oil? ....
