Please Welcome JohnParm to Tractorpoint. From: Massachusetts. Interests: Antique Allis-Chalmers
. Equipment: Alis Chalmers Type-B 1940 Tractor. Property: One Acre Residential/Agricultural

Need help with the Hydraulic pump. Pump charges cylinders to raise dual plows attached to cross bar, two-lifts attaced to seat bracket. the lifts do not hold in the up position, i.e...they drop. Something is not working on this Hydraulic Pump; any suggestion about troubleshooting this pump's mechanisms?

John

John hope you enjoy TP. It has been great for me.

How fast is your lift dropping? (Don't need time it.)
Is it dropping while the tractor is running or only when cut off?

If it is dropping while tractor is running and or doing so fast then I think the seals control valve or in the cylinder(s) itself are leaking.

You need to determine if it is leaking fast enough to cause any issue. If a real slow leak you make find no or little benefit to having it worked on. kt ....

Hello, after 42 years of searching, I am 98% sure I have located my Grandfathers 1947 AC model C. He had a plow with a "lift assist" and I assume this means a hydraulic pump. Please forgive my ignorance but is the plow lift controlled entirely from the lever that pivots from under the front of the bench seat? I have seen 1 or 2 ads that suggest a flow valve is needed to direct the oil to raise or lower the plow. I think this is incorrect. Thank you and if you know of anywhere I can find the parts, lever, ram, etc, please let me know. James Newton Kalamazoo, Michigan ....
