I have a MF 1040 and I would like to purchase a
Taylor Pittsburg backhoe, the backhoe has it's own
tank and pump. I will need a sub frame, will a MF sub frame
fit this backhoe?
Thank you.

Don't know but the usual concern is the subframe fitting the tractor. Most compact-tractor hoes are designed to fit either a 3-pt hitch or a subframe. ....

Had a talk with my MF dealer and he told me a sub frame
was not necessary, when using my Taylor/way model 766
backhoe, what say you.
Thanks ....

I say thank him for the info and record the chat -- in case he's wrong. Is he? Don't know. I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of hoes digging away from their attachments to rear hitches. Maybe one of them will damage the hitch, maybe another one will break the frame. So your odds are pretty good. Depends on the kind of frame (some models don't really have one at all), its condition, hoe strength, how it's used, and whether you displeased the tractor god. ....

Thanks for the advice, guess I will go with
the sub frame and try not to anger the tractor
god. Thanks again

I have never used a backhoe on a tractor. Have used a TLB and excavator. One thing I know from even running one today...you will put them in a bind and will be glad for all the support and strength they have when that happens. You may put them under heavy load not thinking or thinking or due to accident but it will happen or has for me.
