I posted last week about my first gator. The thread was First Gator. So, after some discussions here and some investigation I am considering parting her out. There are a couple of reasons. One, too much rust and a homemade frame underneath not all that stable. I could fix this though. Two, the transaxle is shot. I could spend a bunch of time pulling it and maybe fixing it but it is time I don't have right now.
Being a welder and pretty handy with a wrench I thought I would do it but my better sense takes over and says "way too much work when I have far more pressing issues to resolve".
I figure there are some decent spare parts, motor starts and runs really well. Hour meter shows 750 hours and works but the glass is broke in it so can't sell that. Things I think I could ebay would be;
Secondary clutch (works great and looks great)
Primary Clutch
Engine
Fuel pump
Couple wheels and tires
Maybe the bad transaxle as I see Deere wants around $200 for just one shaft in it. I'm sure there are some good parts in there.
Steering wheel
Steering rack
Thats about it I think.

Try craigslist which is free versus eBay and costs. To date I have sold a 14,000 lb. manlift to a guy 600 miles away; a tractor 700 miles away; a snow plow 800 miles; a welder generator 3,000 miles (Mexico); a chipper/dump trailer 700 miles; road grader 700 miles; and many an expensive power tool 500-800 miles away.
The keywords in the ad are what people search for. I didn't advertise that I would ship--half of them came to me. The others I did ship, but the paid in advance with Postal Money orders and I got extensive and descriptive emails back and forth in case the authorities had to investigate. I even zoom in on their address from google just to be sure they're not bluffing. Never been stung yet. ....

Yeah I will try that if/when I get around to it. I found some parts break down drawing on the JD site. It sort of gives me an idea on how to start to pull the transaxle. I am actually kind if interested to see what I see in there. At some point when I get some free time I will tear into it. ....

I'd be interested in parts from your Gator. I live in GA so I'd probably need them shipped. Have you decided to go that route?
Thanks, Gary. ....

I'm primarily looking for an engine. I bought mine with a bad motor and I'm trying to replace it. New ones with 8hp are $425 shipped from small engine warehouse and the only used ones I've found so far have been $350-$500 + shipping. I'm hoping shipping won't be as bad from Fla to Ga. I may be interested in some of your other parts as well. I'll probably need a tire or two. It's hard to say about the other stuff as I don't have it running to be able to evaluate. How are your seats? One of mine is shot the other is serviceable. I just got a set of used front fenders off ebay, but I need rear fenders also. I tried to message you, but this site won't let me send you a private one.
Gary. ....

If you are parting out a JD Gator I would be interested in two rear wheels. The tire size is 25X13-9 five bolt. The JD part number for the black wheels is AM136179. I don't know the part no. for the yellow wheels. It doesn't matter as long as the size is correct. Please respond to trentech@htc.net ....
