I have a 2 year old B7800 with L402 loader and around 50 hours. I am thinking of downsizing (not the normal direction that I see) a little so I can do mowing of our lawn, blow snow, bucket etc. and be a little more user friendly to my wife(she is worth keeping). I am not doing as much heavy work as I expected.
Any thoughts as to what price I might get and what model Kubota you recommend?

Depending upon the size of your implements, you may not be able to go down in size too far. The implements you currently own might not be suitable for a smaller tractor.
Maybe you don't own too many implements. If this is the case, it's possible that you may be able to sell your tractor as a package deal.
Unfortunately, those who purchase new tractors are able to get 0% financing for three years. No such offer is available on used tractors, as any financing will have to be done through the buyer's local bank. Therefore, a potential buyer may find it cheaper in the long run to simply go with a new tractor.
I believe your best bet would be to work out a trade with someone who is looking for a slightly larger tractor.
If you can find someone who owns a BX2200, or a smaller Kubota B Series tractor, you might consider making a trade with them.
Personally, I'd keep the B7800 and look for a riding mower to handle the grass mowing duties. With only 50 hours on your tractor, in two years, that B7800 would likely serve you for a lifetime.......or even three lifetimes.

You should really consider all aspects of this downsize- specifically, would it be easier to up-size the wife rather than downsizing the tractor? You mentioned that you wife is worth keeping, but this might be based on loyalty rather than logic. Alot of guys these days are chosing to hold on to the bigger tractor and trade that little wife in for a more robust woman. This can improve farm/ranch productivity with out the hassle of having to change what kind of oil filter you stock, buying a new, smaller trailer, etc. ....

I'm with candoarms. You may want to keep it and get a Zero Turn for mowing. Your wife would love it. If you really want to downsize into smaller tractor than you may want to look at the New B2920HSD. Small but powerfull!

Thats Funny....but I'm with Joel, I'd keep what ya got as you get older the work gets heavier and the tractor gets more appealing than a wheelbarrow, and a ZTR mower would be sooo fun, for you and wife, she'd be fighting you to cut grass. ....

Guess I will be the contrarion concerning the trade. Being a Counselor that happens to be a Kubota loyalist. First, you will probably lose some money but money isn't everything. Good wife that might help you mow is worth more than money. I started my Kubota world 4 years ago with a BX2200, MMM and FEL. Traded up a year later to a B7800, 6'RFM, FEL. Wife thought the B to big so I bought a BX1500 54"MMM for her. She hasn't actually used it much though so don't be surprised if she still doesn't help mow. 3 years later traded B7800 to a L3240 6' RFM FEL (MORE POWER). As suggested the 0% interest that Kubota keeps offering really hurts trading/selling a used piece of equipment but if you purchase another new piece of equipment with the 0% that helps you offset that somewhat. The BX's are lower to the ground but really strong small tractors that mow. If you have other implements, you may have to sell or trade them or get the strongest BX so ask here if or which BX will handle your extra implements. Next, if you believe you see no future need for higher ground clearance and needing to do things a bit faster then proceed to find the tractor (probably a BX)that will suit your needs. Another thought for me is why only 50 hours in 2 years. If the B's size restricts usage then get one you will use. Also, fight your Tim the Toolman mentality of MORE POWER (I usually lose that one myself as my stable of Kubotas reflect). I will confess that I want to get on my L3240 with FEL and 6' RFM and "DO IT" but I mostly get on the BX because it is so easy to manuver, get in and out and mow with. You can look on web sites or ebay that sell used equipment to see asking/selling prices or ask about a trade. One I know and use is Barlow Tractor sales who has a sponsering ad on this forum. Finally, if you do trade down to a smaller tractor and decide you now or always needed a bigger tractor you can feel more comfortable trading back up having personal experience with the different sizes. Kubota will offer the 0% to lower interest again. Again, keep the good little woman and trade the steel/plastic/fluids/rubber if you think a smaller tractor will cause you to put more hours on it. But, STAY ORANGE!! :);) ....

Just traded my BX1500 to a BX2350. Kubota now has a BX26?? with 26 HP. It's smaller than B but near the HP if you have those extra implements that the 23HP may not handle. Have had B7800 and now 3 BX's. For mowing and light dirt/snow/rock moving I will recommend a BX. BX's are mainly just lower to ground, lighter weight and some a few less HP. With the new 26HP model the HP part is almost up there with the B's and exceeds some of them. ....
