Any opinions as to a fair price for an early 80's B5100E 2wheel drive tractor on turf tires. 2cyl diesel, pto, 3point hitch, mid mount 60" mower. New Kubota battery?

Thanks,
Jim

Jimpotter,

The B5100E will run you about $3000.00.

For about $4500.00 you can get a tractor with 6 more horses, 4-wheel drive, and a hydrostatic transmission.....a far better machine.

Take a look at the B7100HST.

See the link below.

Jim, have you been into any of the local dealers out there?

C & P are the local (big) Kubota dealer in that area, but there's a few others too, and the odd private sale that comes up too.

If tell us a little more about the type of land, flat, hilly, and the type of mowing, finished or rough cutting, etc., we can give you a better idea of what you're going to need.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks for the input, folks - sounds like there are better options. :)

Land is pretty flat - a couple of small ditches. Cutting is "finished", i guess, although we're not fussy as long as I keep the weeds down.

Have some light excavating to do over the next few years, so perhaps looking for something that will mount a small backhoe.

Murf, thanks for the C&P lead - what do the C and the P stand for? :)

Cheers,
Jim ....

Sorry Jim, thought you might know the local dealers, the 2 biggest Kubota dealers in your area are Carriere Poirier Equipment Limited (in Alfred actually) and B & T MacFarlane (in Nepean).

There is also a smaller one in Perth called Hartington.

If you don't necessarily want a Kubota, there are several other very reputable dealers in your area.

If budget is a concern you can often get a mid-sized farm tractor that will do nearly everything you want for not a lot of money. They are often a very good 'starter' machine.

Best of luck. ....
