I was considering trading my L3830HST with 158 hours and a LA723 loader but no quick tach bucket for a L4330HST with a cab, 82 hours, a rear remote, am-fm radio, rear work lights and a new LA853 loader with a quick tach bucket. The dealer wants $8900 difference. Is that a good price? I like the 30 series better than the 40 series due to cab comfort and location of the brake pedals.

Retcol,

I'm not sure how much the dealer is asking for the new tractor, but in many cases you'd be better off selling your tractor outright, than by trading.

Dealers like to make money.....that's their business. Usually....not always......you'd get more for your tractor by selling it directly to the purchaser, rather than by allowing the dealer to make his commission on the trade.

8900 difference seems fair, but I'm thinking you could narrow the difference quite a bit by selling your tractor first, and then purchase the new tractor with no trade involved. In most cases, you'll come out a few thousand dollars to the good.

Joel ....

The tractor is not new just the loader. My tractor is a 2004 model and the 4330 is a late 2005. It has 14 months left on the power train warranty. ....

Looking at it from my side, the cabs 6500 round numbers when new, 300 for a radio, 600 for a valve and 350 for a Q-tach on the bucket. Then, you have the lower hours and the five extra horsepower which was about $2,000 when new. ....
