I know there are certain varieties that grow in greenhouses. Which I assumes means there are those that will not.

Have any of you grown tomatoes in a greenhouse? How do they compare to field grown in taste? How did you pollinate them? Any other info you would want to share?

Thank you,
kt

I've eaten hydrophonicly grown tomatoes from a green house that gets warm water from a powerplant. They tasted ok to me, but it was also midwinter in Minnesota. Still real hard to beat a homegrown vine ripened tomato. Frank. ....

Seems like everytime a turn around I am posting something from MSU. You would think I was a Dogs fan. I purchased a T' Shirt one year on the discount rack and got accused of it all the time. It is a tough crowd in the Alabama foot ball ranks. I am about an hour from both and graduate from three other universities so!!!

So much for the rant. They claim here you need to worry about the humidity, temp. and low light in the green house and need special varieties. They recommend expensive hybrids. For home consumption I might just choose a variety that can be grown in the south. Most commercial varieties are not grown for taste but transportation.

I have seen them grown in hanging pots. This places them in the hottest area of your green house and reduces the work of staking. ....
