I got a call from the dealer on Friday saying that the Curtis cab was shipped from the manufacturer and they expect to have it on Tuesday or Wednesday. Looking forward to geting it installed. They said they would turn it around in one day. I take some pics after it is installed.

You'll love it. Got mine (soft side) on my 4210 in Oct, really makes playing (err, I mean working) out in the snow more enjoyable. If you didnt get the heater, here's a link to 12V ceramic heaters, I put one in mine and it really helps.

I have the 20,000 BTU being installed in the tractor along with lights and fan. Just finished doing the drive again this morning. It was 6 degrees with the windchill. However, once the snow blows back in your face it gets cold a lot faster.

Might have to call the dealer to see if they get it today. If so, I will get the tractor loaded on the trailer and race it down there.

Me and the county snow plow driver are gonna have a talk real soon. I know he is waiting for me to get all the winter clothes off before he makes a run and fills in the end of the driveway. I think he has a timer in his truck and waits 10 minutes after I peel everything off.....

But can't complain too loudly, give me another reason to get back in the seat and play (err work). I suspect I won't have any complaints once the cab is installed. ....

JD,

I got Tuck-Away Hot Water Heater 20,000 BTU-MEGA BURNE. Hopefully the link I added will take you to the site.

Base on what the dealer told me, it has a louver on the top of the unit so that it can be directed to the front window. I also will have the fan blowing on the window to keep it from fogging up.

wildbill,

You're confusing me with another poster. I actually am picking up a cab from another poster here (psimonson) who is moving South.

Cheers

The one I got doesnt appear to be offered anymore, but I got one very close to this one.

http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/12volcerheat.html

It isnt powerful, but in the small cab, it does help. I have it screwed into the middle of the rh A pillar, so that I can tilt it onto the w/s to help defrost, or towards me. If you live in a really cold area (like upstate NY, Vermont, etc), then a high BTU may be better. Here in Va, I really dont need one that high. Just a thought for you.

Just got the 20,000 BTU heater from the wife for Christmas. Haven't hooked it all up yet, waitmg for the alternator upgrade kit.

The Curtis on my 'Bota looks just like the cab on your JD, with the exception of color. We also got the soft-side, but fabricated our own back window assembly and got rid of the canvas in the back. Makes seeing behind you a lot more enjoyable. We really struggled to see through the soft back cover.

Do you find that the heater makes it a little tough to get into the cab? Still getting used to having it right in front of the door.

Enjoy the comfort, I know we will. Will post pictures soon. ....

Beagle,

Nice setup you have on your machine. Funny thing since I had the Cab put on.....no snow. However, I have been out in it when the weather was in the 20's and I can see now I will not longer need a coat when snowblowing the driveway. Getting in the tractor is a bit different and will take a little time to get used to. I am looking forward to the next snow storm just so I can play in the toy (err tool).

Sounds like you have as many dogs as I do....6 here. ....

3 beagles, I hope that's enough!!!

Plowed several times with the cab, but just got the heater hooked up last week. I'm sure winter will return to Michigan soon. The heater really kicks out the heat.

There are some adjustments getting in and out, especially with the heater mounted right in front of the door. Not complaining, there will be some comfortable plows ahead. ....

Don't let my missus see the beagles....she is a beagle nut! We have 2 golden retreivers, 1 yellow lab, 1 pit and lab mix, 1 scotty, and 1 Shitzu (understand their name....with their disposition)...Then the cats downstairs. Regular kennel here. Installed a dog door so I didn't have to keep getting up and down to let them out. The dog door was a blessing! ....

OK, We have 2 dog doors. Originally the dog door went directly outside. Drug too much dirt in the house for that program to keep working.

Had to fill that door in and went to a 2 door system. The first door leads to the garage, then another dog door from the garage to outside. There is a carpet runner between the two doors in the garage so they can "wipe their feet" before coming in the house.

No, it's not a red carpet....but probably should be. ....

Sounds like we have the same problem. Actually I found out why they call the dogs retreivers. They bring every stick they can find back into the house and chew them up. When I built this house, I made sure there was plenty of ceramic tile just for this reason. Ended up putting down over 1300 SF. Also found the tile keeps them from running full speed. They have their own bedrooms and live like kings. Wish I had their problems.....lol ....
