anyone buy tractor on ebay? I use this local search mapbid.com to check all the time on ebay. It shows all the ebay items on a map arund your zipcode. No purchases yet though. there a quite few tractors on ebay. any good or bad experiences with ebay?

There are lots of scams on eBay. The only way I'd buy a high dollar item there would be if I could inspect the item prior to purchase, pick it up myself and pay at the time of pick up. It's common for accounts to be hijacked where the hijacker sells something they don't own, they collect the money, and leave the account holder and buyer holding the bag. Nigerian money order and cashiers check schemes are common. Some crooks misrepresent a piece of junk by using pictures of good equipment. Buyer beware! eBay feedback is important but it could still be a hijacked account. ....

I bought my JD 4210 off ebay, very pleased with the transaction, except shipping killed me, but I got what I wanted. Watch for the scams, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Ask the seller questions, call or email, ask for more pics, maintenance history, condition, etc. A serious seller will answer any and all questions. I hope your transaction goes as well as mine did. ....

Forgot to add, if you can, find an auction on a tractor that's close by, so you can stop by and inspect it. Most sellers welcome inspections, just email them and ask. ....
