Dear all,<br>

I am going to buy John Deere L110 from Home Depot and they told me that<br>
the tractor is in the box not fully assembled.<br>
My questions are if it can be easiled assembled after I open the box?<br>
What tools do I need to use to assemble the trator?<br>
How long it will take for a non-handy-man?<br>
<br>
Your suggestions are all appreciated.

Relieving the pressure before removing the hoses and storing implements in the shade minimizes the problem. My loader hose QD's are male and I seldom need to do more than wrap a QD in a rag and push the ball against a tire. I do put my loader in float and then work the bucket valve both directions to relieve the pressure but I guess you can't do that with a joystick. If the bucket isn't completely flat is will re-pressurizes the lift lines when it settles. High-pressure QD's are available but expensive.

If the tractor doesn't have draft control, it's not something that's usually feasible to add. This sounds like the typical learning curve for box scrapers. A hydraulic top-link is feasible to add and it plus using a lot of float on the 3ph will help a bunch. The blade angle on a scraper is mostly what determines it's action and the top-link is what adjusts it. What you describe is just the way most 3ph's work and they aren't very good for grading.

It might be a bit of a challenge depending on the slope, soil, tractor tires and ballast, and some prior experience might be good. There is some safety issues.

For moderate cost implements a rear blade would likely be the tool of choice--especially if the tractor can't drive in the ditch. If it's tilted and angled slightly forward it will cut a ditch and drag the soil up and onto the drive. The blade does need to be longer than the tire tracks or have an off-set. You might need a strategy to control erosion. I use a box scraper for very minor ditching.

Ibrown59, I don't know much about antique garden tractors, but I'm sure someone on the board can help us both out. I've got a Simplicity walk behind complete with cultivator, sickle mower, and I think some other attachment if I could find it. My Dad got hold of it back in the 50's somewhere and I'm sure it would still start with a little coaxing. Reason I thought about it was because I had to move it the other day to get at some other collectable thing, (junk). Frank.

Im not ready for surgery yet. I can still do most things without glasses. I drive, actually I just passed my CDL physical without having to wear them. The only time I really use them is reading and detailed stuff with low light. When I got them the optometrist said I would become more dependant on them as I got used to them. I guess I should wear them more as Im not used to them yet.
I'll try that antifog stuff. Ive tried spitting on them, used to do that when I would dive, but it doesnt seem to work on glasses, maybe my spit has gone bad with age along with my eyes.
I get the sweat droplets on them as well but that doesnt bother me like the steaming up does.
I payed a couple hundred for nice frames and perscription lenses a couple years ago. A month ago, while at Walmart, I see these cheapo $5 reading glasses. I try a pair on and low and behold, they work just as well for me as my perscription glasses. What gives?

kwshcumm; I really don't want to start another tire design standoff, so I'll only mention a few reasons you could'nt give me a set of turfs. (1), stuck on wet grass. (2), In mud, totaly helpless, (3), I don't like all the little rocks being thrown in my face from the front tires while driving on a gravel road, (4), hard to get a dealer interested in trading in a tractor with turfs. Setting your poles square first is the trick,not sure if your poles are in yet? if not, get some uniform size hardwood stakes and set them in a sq. 24x24. Measure diagonal corners until they are exactly the same.You only move the stake half the distance each time.example:<br>
you have set out a 24x24 but it measures 22x26 when checked diag. move your corner stake in 1' not two. on the 26 side<br>
and so forth until your sq. Run a string around the bottom<br>
a couple of inches up and set your middle poles,(stake)get a can of marker paint and paint the ground following the string.<br>
This will keep you from loosing your ref. while setting the poles.I assume you will use a auger of some type.(know anyone will access to a power line truck with a boom to set poles?) Cut them off on top after they are set. Be sure to check them as you go with the diag. and string this will make it easier with the rest of the building. Another way to keep it sq. that I use is the 3,4,5, method.<br>
Starting in any corner,measure 3' along your string(wall) and mark it,measure 4' along the other (wall) and mark it.<br>
The measurement between the marks should be 5'. You can multiply this out to sq. the whole building 6,8,10, 12,16,20, in your case. I assume you would set 9 poles for a 24x24 this means one in the middle of the floor to set your carrier on.cut off at you desired hieght of bottom of the floor. You will need a transit to set the floor, as well to cut of your tops at a equal height. Mark all the<br>
bottoms where you want your finish floor, I would leave it of the ground at least a foot to the bottom of the stringers.(air flow and crawling in to fix something.)<br>
I would lag bolt (1/4 x6 star head with a big drill works good)a 2x10 around the perimeter on your marks. You can shim with shingles to get your desired dimesion, Do you straightest wall first and measure over to the other and shim if needed. I wouldn't worry to much about getting it perfect,just rip your last floor board to fit.<br>
Hard to do using telephone poles, but it's a barn.<br>
You might consider styrofoam between the floor stringers before decking over. Cut at a slight bevel on a table saw<br>
and press in. Fiberglass insl. could hold moisture that close to the ground. Hope this helps.<br>

There is scads of discussion in the archives. Bottom line is you will destroy your pump with straight kero. Pumps have to have the lubrication that comes with fuel oils.

I run a 50/50 blend heating oil (dyed off road) and kero during the winter. Straight fuel summer.

You should be able to get service at any NH dealer! You will not get the same service as a customer that spent the money to invest in the dealership. That is or should be the only difference.

I'd like to thank those who recommended AVG for Windows as a virus checker. My laptop has been very flakey and NAV insisted it was clean. I downloaded AVG and it found a trojan horse virus right away, fixed it, and now everything is behaving normally. A big thumbs up on AVG!
