I have a 4400HST with 10 hours on it. My problem is a little different. Mine slows gradually until moving slowly then jerks to a stop. I thought the pedal linkage was sticking, I was looking at it last night. I will talk to the dealer today.

Bouncing around on the seat is not so dumb. What your doing is moving the tires slightly thus moving the gear in the transmission on the output side so it will mesh. For example the owners manual on a John Deere 4430[a 120 hp tractor] recommends moving the steering wheel while stationary if you can`t get it in gear. This causes the rear wheels to rotate ever so slightly thus moving the gear in the transmission so it will mesh. The length of a 4430 is a factor that a compact tractor doesn`t have. Also a factor on the JD 4430 is its 2-wheel drive and the camber,caster,toe-in of the front-end geometry

My dealer told me I didn't really need to change the hydro fluid after I had already done it at 50 hours. My screen also had some metal filings in it. I'll go by the manual myself.<br>The 5W-40 vs 5W-30 oil should only be of benefit in hot weather. In cold weather I would stick to 5W-30.

I purchased a used Kubota AT70 rear tine tiller(the tines still had the paint on them) and now find out that you can't get it to dig down when the tines are in forward. Digs about 2 to 4 inches deep. Some of the dealers that I have talked to have told me that the unit is not designed right and best of luck with it. I bought it on Kubota's reputation, but seems this is a bummer. It will be the last Kubota that I will purchase unless there is some way to get it to till. Is there any one that has one and have you had success with it? I have tried wheel weight with some improvements. I also purchased dual tires, but that made it worse so now have a set of tires with on 15 minuts on them, and Kubota won't restock them.

A real problem with a vented axle happens when it is hot from working and the tractor is driven through a stream....or possibly a rice field? Then the air in the axle cools and sucks air in through the vent. If the vent is under water or cracked....It sucks up water instead. An unvented axle will not do this. At least it won't until the outer axle seals wear out. Then it is just like a vented axle with a cracked vent hose - and it will suck water in every time it gets a chance. This is something that the 4wd automotive guys deal with all the time since they do a lot of stream crossings. Current wisdom is to vent it, run the vent hose up high and into a vent cannister, and check that system often.

You have a larger hoe AND a belly mower (about another $2100-2500 for mower).

for what infor you gave i believe that something like a JD870 or JD970 is about right. i maintain about 10 ac. with mine(i have a loader on mine) with no problems. i also cut and rake hay, but don't bale it. the neighbor with his giant(95 hp.) tractor does that. just don't try to tackle big jobs like land clearing(need a dozer for that).i do light comm. bush hog mowing also and i have no problems with my tractor(28 hp.) LOL

Hi...<br>I have a JD 670 with a loader and a long drive and lots of area around the house/barn and the first year I had it I used the bucket only and it took a loooong time to do it all. Next year I bought a full-size (7 1/2 ft) used pickup snowblade from a guy and made a bracket that is identical to the bucket attachments for fit and other adjustments. The blade pivots left/right and can move up/down/tilt like the bucket. It has been my experience that John Deere and discount are words that are seldom used in the same sentence. I recently purchased a loader for my 4100 and saved $250 by calling several dealers. Good luck, call several dealers, and don't be afraid to travel 100 miles.

I put a Optima in my truck for when I have the camper on. It takes a good four day weekend of running interior lights without a problem.<br>My Brother-in-Law has them in his Jeep. He has run them low while winching. still cranked the engine over and recharged nicely.<br>In fact, he had a winch battery cable rub through on his grille. Smoke, sparks, excitement. They got the battery disconnected, let things cool down, and then reconnected. Still turned the engine over and recharged fine.<br>Of course it helps that he has a welder/alternator combo made to do impressive charging at low RPM, unlike most compacts tractors with dinky alternators and generators.
