Been looking at either a BX 23 or a mf 2300. mainly for mowing &garden stuff.<br>

what would you all recommend? Does the 3 point on a 2300 ACTUALLY a TRUE cat1?<br>

No you should be just fine as long as it is a 'chemical approved' diaphram and not just a 'solution approved' (read cheapie) model. The bleach is a solvent and will melt or soften the diaphram, the pressure then blows a hole in it. Niether vinegar nor salt are solvents, except to vehicles that is.

Just be sure that the salt is thoroughly disolved though, we made up a bucket of very strong brine (salt water) using boiling water from a kettle to get all the salt in liquid form first, then blended it with the rest of the water and kept the agitation spray running to ensure it stayed in suspension.

I don't know about your local market, but we regularly have 'surplus' trees to move or get rid of.

If they are well shaped and not missing one side from being crowded together a local tree mover will often take them, they usually don't pay much if anything but then they do all the work for you and leave the place real neat too. IF you can have someone else do all the work for you why not?

Call around to several local tree movers, large nurseries and even large landscaping companies.

chipaz, glad you were able to come up with a suitable fix but I think it is BIG BS that you have to pay for it. NH should be stepping up to the plate for that on principle.

I don't suppose you did something silly like marking the point the fluid came to on the dipstick so you could see how much of an effect that pint had did you? I know I always remember to do that, usually about 5 minutes late mind you, but I always remeber, LOL.

Every machine is a little different but generally the only real hazard if it is a little overfull is that the fluid reaches a spinning gear or something which cause the fluid to foam up bad, this can of course cause cavitation and other air entrainment problems.

On the other side of the coin there is some logic to the arguement that slightly over-full is just fine since you never work the machine with the FEL and 3PTH all the way down anyways. FWIW, my dealer suggests checking the fluid with the FEL & 3PTH in the 'normal operating position' that way there is the proper amount of fluid in the machine when it's working, and the more fluid, the more cooling capacity. Mind you I think my machines work a little harder than the average too.

135 made from '64-'74; they are more desirable with a diesel engine; go for $3500-$4500 around here. Not familiar with the others. There was a site that had used tractor values where you could sign up for free. Machinerylink.com, I think?

I've used my scraper to take out sod over areas about that size to make gardens. The soil here is sandy though.

I fully extended the scarifiers and held the blade off the ground with the 3ph and cut the sod along the length and then the across the width. I was left with something like carpet squares. The blade used at a spreading angle pulled most of them up, collected them in the box and left most of the top-soil.

I'm not against pressure testing so much as thinking about 'what then' questions. Murf and Oneace make good 'how to' comments. I think I drew too fine a distinction in an earlier comment. There are no components down-stream of a dead-ended gauge except through a relief valve.

For pressure testing, I'd add that a quick-connect on the gauge would enable it to be plugged into the work ports although it'd be good to shut down the tractor and relieve the pressure after taking a reading. To test the cylinders, the gauge is connected on the low-pressure side of the cylinder. The low and high-pressure sides swap depending on the direction a valve is operated. If there's doubt as to which is the high-pressure hose, a hose can be grabbed beforehand and the loader operated. The pressure hose should stiffen.

I wonder if there's a chance that some quick-connect lines were disconnected each time the relief valve was cleaned and then the loader worked better for awhile. If so, then maybe a quick-connect is the problem.

You are about right with the speeds unfortuantely the cut of the deck in second wasn't very good compared to first as it was getting to fast for it normally. The older ones were a little short on horsepower but they sure did run good. I guess to cut for ten years a 400 dollars a year investment isn't really to far out of line for the acreage mowed as the machine was not new when you got it. I like to think that if you can't mow in less time with a newer machine it really makes it hard to justify the purchase.

It sounds generally like normal operation for many loaders that a lack fast dump feature when they are dumping heavy loads at low engine rpm.

My loader does the same except I haven't noticed any curl back. I can see curl-back happening with a fairly deep bucket where the front of the load dumps first and the remainder is in the back of the bucket. You might try dumping at higher engine rpm's.

mowers huh....thats a subject I could discuss all day. When it comes to commercial mowers, been there, done that & still doing that, hundreds & hundreds of acres a week with my types & brands employing several men & managing several crews. However, this is a tractor thread. I like a clutch... I recommend searching threw old posts on tractor tranny's on this site. You can read pro's & con's of each type all day long & there are some very informative points to each. Have a great day!

Just tell the wife you need both-I got away with it.

I did, however, buy both of mine used and I enjoy rebuilding equipment. I had the tractor first and after seeing the prices for used loader attachments, I decided to get a used skid steer. The skid steer is designed for digging into undisturbed earth while the loader cannot. While I have not had either machine very long (less than one year), I think the tractor is more universal considering all the attachments available (I have 9 already). Good luck.

Rear hyd will not go down even with weight but they go up fine. reMOVED SEAT ASSEMBLY AND COVER ON HYD FOUND VALVE STICKING ON SHUT OFF FOR LIFT CYL. MOVED IT IN AND OUT A FEW TIMES, WORKS FINE BUT REAR ARMS STILL WONT LOWER. LOOSEND 8 BOLTS ON VALVE BODY TO RELEASE PRESSURE AND THEY LOWERED. RAISED AGAIN AND THEY WONT LOWER. COULD CHECK VALVE BE STICKING IN VALVE BODY. NEED INFO AND DIAGRAM ON REPAIR. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET A REAL SERVICE MANUAL

I stopped by and looked at Greg's KAMA a couple months ago and I was impressed. I have been driving tractors for 48 years and my last one was a Zetor. Greg's tractor really is sharp, not at all like what I was expecting based on what I had heard about "China" tractors. Now the car's are starting to come in from China as well. It is clear China factories are serious about the US market and the look and feel of the newer tractors shows that they are listening to the customers. I remember being about 12 and I saw a Ford that looked interesting so I asked my dad about it and he say, "Ahh that is one of them "English" Ford's and not as good as a regular Ford." If you will surf the web concerning AG practices in other parts of the world you will see China built tractors in many places outside of China.
