Unit: 1997 B2400 HSD (600 hrs)
Symptom: When dumping front loader bucket starts to dump and then stops then for a moment while still holding the lever in the dump position the bucket actually starts to curl back and then dumps suddenly.
Any ideas as to why?

do you have a rear appliance such as a backblade
on-if the lever for the backblade is all the way
back it will affect your bucket performance

It sounds generally like normal operation for many loaders that a lack fast dump feature when they are dumping heavy loads at low engine rpm.
My loader does the same except I haven't noticed any curl back. I can see curl-back happening with a fairly deep bucket where the front of the load dumps first and the remainder is in the back of the bucket. You might try dumping at higher engine rpm's. ....

I did have the box on when trouble was noticed but problem persists with nothing on the hitch. All hydraulic connections appear to be tight and without leaks. Their are no abrasions, bruises or kinks in any of the hoses. Fluid level is where it should be. It seems to me to be valve related. ....

The center of gravity of the load in the bucket changes as it is curled out. The bucket cyliners at some point during the curl change from "causing" the dump to "slowing" the dump. As the center of gracity of the load in the bucket moves forward of the pivot pin, the load on the bucket cylinders reverse. The hydraulics at low engine rpms take a second to catch up. With a regenerative valve, this isn't as noticeable because the regen. circuit balances faster. ....

I probably should have mentioned that the bucket also does not want to stay in "float" mode either. When problem first developed the control valve was sticking in what ever position you put it in and I had to pop it to get it to release to neutral. I sprayed the valve completly with PB Blaster and then greased it up good and now it works freely but you have to fidget with it to get it to do what you want it to do.It seems as though the connections are good and not sloppy.
As far as curling while dumping it does it at any RPM and weather the bucket is full or empty. If you hold the valve in the same position without moving it ther bucket will eventually(as much as 4 sec.) do what you want it to do.
