I agree with most posts on this subject and especially Murf but with some variations. As always it depends, as life is full of trade-offs. I've used a SSL for brush removal (Ambusher)and a snow blower and they can't be beat. Murf is right, the equipment is expensive but 16 gpm of hydraulic pressure really does the job. I've blown 2' of packed snow with no problem....then again most folks don't move that much snow. And it blows the snow up to 20' and further if it's light. I've pulverized 15' high mounds of blackberry brush without missing a beat. It's absolutely incredible. But I admit, most folks don't need that much brute power and not that often. It's really a commercial machine and that's what we have it for....I just use it around the acreage once in a while when I have a really tough job. My Kubota tractor does most anything I need around the house.

Update. I went by the dealer and acquired the "circuit breaker kit" that was recommended. Basically, the package is a small tin can (about twice as thick as a standard plastic fuse link package) that plugs easily in the socket where the 10 Amp fuse used to live. I used tractor a lot this weekend, many shutdowns and startups were required because on the safety interlock in the seat. Everything seemed to operate normal. If this is the fix, Personally, I think the vendor should take responsibility for this problem and officially issue an engineering change order to address this issue; otherwise, anyone who alters the stardard configuration of the TC33D's electrical system is essentially assuming responsibility if something is damaged or gets too hot and catches on fire.

Anyway, here are the details on the circuit breaker:

Has anyone used a box scraper with scarifiers to take out sod? I have some wild grass that has grown on clay soil that I would like to take out and re-seed. I've got an area about 50'X 150' to take out. The sod is not worth saving. Is there a better implement for sod removal? Thanks, Brian

you are very right, when I get the 4110 home I will want to put it to work so the next few days I could be reading up. The garage thing is not promblem becasue it is a 1 car and will fit my tractor, wife is already on the street so to speak. The only deal is I have to buy a new sofa and carpet for the house and take her to dinner but I think I am ahead of the game with this deal.

I got the loader full of gravel and adjusted the threaded rod in until it lifted it. Its been a hassle. Thanks for the help, I learned alot about this hydro system.

Yeah, the location of the shuttle shift lever leaves a bit to be desired. Nonetheless, it's far better than the 6x2 creeper it replaced. <br>

Had I a need for yet another tractor, I wouldn't be afraid of another KAMA. And yes, I definitely got what I paid for.<br>

The Maxi-Blade fuse idea didn't work. They look similar, but aren't compatible after all. Now the trick will be to find an electronics supply guy old enough to remember fuse wire. If any of you out there can help, I need 3a, 10a, and 30a fuse wire.<br>

Actually, in rock country plowing is the pitts! You plow 9" deep and bring up monster boulders that may have stayed just under the disk. Least that is what I am finding out about plowing where I live. A Much larger tractor with a field cultivator would be great but I dont have that big a rig to pull that large a piece that is needed to do it right. That brings me back to the box blade, Sure looks like I will be getting the chance to find out for my self in 2 weeks. My scarifers are 12" apart, have you ever tried making one pass and then moving opver 6" and making anouther. This would leave 6" in between rips. Was wondering if my disk angled to its extreme would compensate and take out the rest.? 2 of my plots are pretty long and by design they are only 40 yards wide so criss crossing the short way would be a real pain in the butt. I will experiment a bit but if all else fails I will do it your proven way! I cant wait! Wanted to try it out this weekend but at the same time I needed to get the second spraying in and did not want to bring up any new weed seeds before I was ready to plant and lose the benifit of my round up applications si I decided to wait till the 1rst of Aug. and then giver till I get them done!

TRUST ME,,weld them on the top sides of your bucket,,on my Deere tractor I bent the bucket ,,It had a hook in the center of the bucket,,(there must be a reason the Manfacture dosent put the hooks on!OH,,I bent the bucket)

I own a JD 790, a no frills 2WD version, I mow 3 acres pulling a 5 ft Frontier Grooming mower. The mower weighs 611 pounds and I have 4 JD front weights (42 lbs each) on the tractor. Other than the obvious, how does one know that the proper amount of weight is on the front of the tractor for any particular rear-mounted implement? The tractor front tires rise slightly when lifting the mower but do not leave the ground. I have not flipped over but I am well aware of Murphy's Law given the right set of circumstances. I do not wish to be too heavy either.

The yard is about 4 acres including the drive way. I mow another 6 or 7 acres of pasture and walking trails too. It used to take me about 14 hours to cut it all with the 154 Lo Boy but I cut it is in about half that time with the Deere 4410 and the F525. Only 3 forward speeds in that old 154; 1st gear was way to slow, 2nd gear was too slow, and 3rd gear was way too fast. It was still a great little machine that served me well the 10 years I owned it.

I believe adding front wheel weights has seen limited use simply because front wheels offer little room for fluid or iron. Initially front wheel weights add no side stability because of the axle pivot. I don't know about any of you but I have three wheeled it with one rear wheel off the ground numerous times and when axle travel limit is reached, weights would add some side stability. Also wheel weights add very little bearing strain compared to tractor weights. A wheel could weigh 1000 pounds and no more weight would be added to the bearing since the wheel supports itself (provided the wheel is balanced side to side) . Add the same weight to the tractor and now the bearing feels it all the time. Also, no matter how much weight you add to the front wheels, the rear of the tractor never gets any lighter. Put on a loader and now the back end is light. I would not hesitate to add front wheel weights.

I've used the Frontier RB1060 blade as ballast w/ the 4110 / 410 loader... after moving approx. 150 tons of dirt, gravel, and fertilizer. I can honestly tell ya that the rear blade seems more than adequate ballast for moving anything but gravel. Even moving gravel, I've never had the rear tires "lift" with the blade on.
The 3pt ballast box JD sells weighs approx. 800lbs. when filled with concrete. The RB1060 blade only weighs 262lbs. but has a much greater arm... I don't have the #'s on the total moment of each... anywho... Long story short, I only use the blade and have never had a problem.
