I'd spend a few minutes on one in a dealers yard and see how good you can be at operating the units. The BX is the comparable to the 2210 and equally fit and more compact. Your tasks that you have stated can be done with them but it is a matter of time. The larger machines might do it faster but there are trade offs.

Sounds like the ideas here came together pretty well--room for both some work and a little research, which should make things interesting. I must be one of the last people in the world to use a water level and trig tables but it's fun (and doesn't need sight lines). Laser levels are sure getting inexpensive though. Somewhere I've seen a table that relates level bubbles to slopes but I can't remember where--half-bubble is simpler than trig tables though.

I tend to shoot my surface ditches to 3%, which seems to give good flow with little erosion but that may not be best for a pipe. Best angles for solid pipe likely are greater than for perforated pipe where you want water to hang around in the pipe. Yes, tiling for big fields would need to be near the Grand Canyon if appreciable slopes were used.

Like was said have plenty of shear pins on hand. Don't try to drill the hole in one fell swoop, as you're drilling pull the auger up a bit in the hole to allow it to clear the soil out of the auger, other wise if you hit a rock, root, or something that cuts a shear pin it's not quite as much of a pain go get the auger loose. Rocks are a piece of cake compared to tree roots. go slow and easy, a runing auger up out of the hole can be a nasty thing to get someone caught in. Best of luck and above all be carefull. Frank.

I understand that Agracat is making them all green now, both the Chinese and the S.Korean LG series. Long has changed the name of the Landtrac seriss to FARMTRAC same as the Escorts models based on Ford designs. Farmtrac has introduced a new series in the 270DTC and 320DTC (27 and 32HP) at lower prices, not much more than some of the higher priced Chinese brands. They are LG and feature Daedong/Kioti engines, shuttle shift, open deck design, etc.

What are the correct Brands of Chinese Tractors

Seems to me that the F-8F's ran 3350's. And I think the F-4U's did too. The P-47's had 2800's. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hey, I am in your area code and as it is late I will call you tomorrow. I have an 1840 I just got and of course would like to find a repair manual. The tractor seems to run fine but there are wires and hyd. lines every where that are no longer in use. I like to know where they go.

Will be glad to pay of your hard won information espically a manual copy.

How does Rankin compare to Woods, Land Pride or another major implement brand. From reading the posts it seems that there are a number of well made implements, can someone name the top five. <br>
I thought it might be helpful to know what I found out about box scrapers with hydralic and manual scarifiers. So far Rankin has hydralic scarifiers. <br>

Rankin has the 2G2 Series box scrapers with 6 hydralic scarifiers which would allow just about any setting for depth for the scarifiers; scarifiers can be locked. This box scraper is 800 pounds with 2 reversible cutting edges .5 inch X 6 inch. side plates and main beam are 3/8 inch.<br>

Woods heavy duty R 1060 has a heavy duty box scraper with 3 lock down positions with a handle which allows the operator to "roll" from cutting edge to teeth. 3/8 inch steel. Reinforced Steel A frame<br>

I had some experience with Rankin, the company, that wasn't very satisfying. They sold me a set of 3ph pallet forks and charged me extra to make them I-match compatible. When they arrived they were well built, but they didn't even come close to working with I-match. It turns out they never even tried to hook them up to an I-match hitch. When this snafu was discovered they wouldn't return calls or make it right. Fortunately the dealer did but that sort of left a sour taste in my mouth for Rankin. But like I said, the forks were well built.

Thanks all for your suggestions! I feel a bit foolish since I could probably spend 3 days with a pitch fork and finish it all. But in desiging this thing I've got alot of interested neighbors with alot of slash they need hauled away.
I've decided to build Green's device and add a 'twist'. I'm using 3/8 x 3/4 cold rolled bar (on edge) 36inches long(for 22 inch prongs outside of bucket) with two 3/8 x 2 straps to tie together and to go into the bucket. But for raking, I'm going to weld a 1-1/4 inch x 8 inch pipe at 60 degrees in the center toward the top of the assembly to act as a journal. Then to rake I'll put a 1 inch pipe 12 in long into the journal. The 1 inch 'axle' will expand up to a 1 1/4 and be welded into a trailer hitch type channel (2 inch square...).
When I hook this all up on the 3pt hitch (with a 'FlexPoint adapter', I expect to float vertically while also 'floating' in the twist direction (the 1 inch pipe with grease in the 1 1/4 pipe is a crude journal bearing at the right price). If this works I'll post some pictures. I haven't done much tractering yet (18 hours on the BX), but it seems the rake would benefit with the rotational float feature so it follows the ground contour regardless of what the tractor is doing.

I recently purchased a 1995 Belarus 250 that had been setting up for 2 years (started to run some to keep it in decent shape). The tractor ran fine for one day but the next weekend after running for 30 minutes the crank case exhaust started splattering out oil.<br>

Does anyone have any ideas to find out how to determine what the problem is?

Eric, you're probably right. I often pay extra for the best quality I can find without regard to value. I've got a toolbox full of snap-on tools for example. I'm sure they're not a good value but they sure are a pleasure to use.

We were planning on putting up a steel building late this summer and it figures that steel prices are climbing. When we built our house a few years ago there was a sheetrock shortage and the prices peaked just when we needed the rock. Somehow my timing always stinks.

Actually I have clay and rocks for soil, the sandy pit run was imported, LOL. That is half my problem, the soil is really tough to work with. The box blade: Hmmm if I understand you right, you drop it with the rippers down and pull maybe 3 feet or so, then lift and go back and do it again. Turn around scoop it out (do this till I get the depth I want and then move over 5 foot to start again. and walk this down the edge of the drive 5 foot at a time? Is this what you mean by perpendicular to the drive

I did the best I could, the drive goes east/west and then turns 90 degrees. The ditch will be on the east side and run down to the pond (on the left) So do I dig in with the rippers in 5 ft increments pulling out to the drive (and so on) then scoop out and keep doing this till I get to my pond? Or am I way off base? LOL.. Anyone think the blade will do the job in clay/rocky soil?
That would be easier but maybe not get as deep as I need? I am still open for ideas?

Make sure that your hydraulic fluid is at the proper level.
this can be checked using the dip stick at the rear of the tractor. If it is low it may go forward but not reverse.
