It might be good to think about the trench grade. I don't know what an optimal grade might be but I think there are some issues.

I think that one issue is volume, and long runs pipe with little slope have lower flows even with a head on the intake end. I also think pipes that have shallow grades tend to be more prone to collecting sediment. Of course, steeper slopes means having to extend the pipe further down hill to get to daylight.

If the pipe drains a sizable area then there's going to be much more water at the outlet than from normal surface drainage and it would be good to think about surface drainage from the outlet. Permanent wet spots, erosion etc. are possible. If it's flex pipe then it's also good to ensure that the grade is constant so the entire pipe drains. I'm just raising issues and maybe somebody has the answers.

It might be good to shoot the trench floor to a specific slope, which can be a fun job in itself.

mattdavid I would guess you are 100% correct. But being 25 years old with a size 3 hat and a 54 jacket won't last forever.

On a really hot day with the toy you might be slow but you won't break a sweat. When you get really old "like 40" the toy will probably work ok too.

I do agree also about other machines. I use large excavators at work. But at home I still do not sweat digging a trench, stump or flower bed...

Does anyone know where I can get a loader for a 650 compact? I'm located in Ohio. I've seen 67, and I think a 60 on other 650s. Any other options?<br>

Tom you have some good pointers,I thank you.I have a friend that is a John Deere man, he knows them inside out. as conversation goes he said he could fix it fairly easy. Just have to break apart so you can replace the seal,also go ahead and check the clutch.I don't know to much about these compacts but I'm catching on. Guess they are fairly realiable tractors .Cause you sure see a lot of them

LOL Lets see now, I have made a new pin and bushing for the front end, made new hangers and diamond plate riunning boards, bought 2 brand new front side pannels (Ebay 82 bucks!) cleaned the gas tank fixed the broken steering housing (aluminum casting) front wheel bearing, blasted and painted all the small enough parts that would fit in my blast door at work. fenders are off along with both back wheels (waiting warmer weather for removal and blasting, new tubes and paint (of coarse) seat is blasted and painted also. I found out it is a hybred 9n/8n so it wont be worth much as a restore tractor for someone, so I thought id help it along and find some dude that has a 5-10 acre hobby ranch looking for a 55mph good looking 8N LOL. Dont know though, right now its 50/50 on if it will ever see the for sale sign. By the way, when the CEO of the house say's, " I dont care what you do with it?" Does that mean, "you better sell it?" Or does it mean, "She really dont care what I do with it?"

Jim : If you don't have live PTO my recommendation is go for the plow. I tried a snow blower on a B1750 Kubota DT and spent a lot of time replacing shear bolts and pins every time I changed gears etc. one would break.

If it was me, I would go with a lot more tractor. i.e. Massey 40 or JD 2130 but by all means get an "industrial" grade unit with the really heavy beams for the loader etc. otherwise you will be disappointed at the performance(or lack thereof) of the smaller units. The new Bransons are quite heavy for their power and seem to be well made but few new units will compare to the 40-70 hp and grunt of an "ol time religion" big rig. The ergonomics is much improved on the newer models but they are still expensive for what you get in serious workability. There are a number of good big older rigs on the market now because people do like the new designs but keep in mind these are mostly 2-12 acre folks without the "old acreage" problems of odd and heavy loads and hidden dangers(half buried relics). The older industrial units can almost be used as a bulldozer while the new "3000lb." units are just gonna bend and bind. Just an opinion, but born out by goin' out in the country and askin' the folks 2 miles down a dirt road.

WOW, I never dreamed how many responses I'd get to my rotaty mower question, I really apreciated each and every one, and did learn a lot from you guys and the suggested web sites. For right now I'm going to build the pump unit for the farm use and someday go on from there with other ideas. I've never been happy without a challange of some kind. Just now got to thinking, why not buy a milk cow, have the wife milk her twice a day and just move the cow to the next fencpost down the road after every milking. Frank.

Are there any updates on the golf cart escapades? The four wheeler was handy enough but not a real go getter in the snow. That is once it got over two feet deep :> The last of the several feet we had developed a crust and I was riding around on top of it prior to the thaw.

The wife had a fit the first time I zipped her across the front yard over to the restaurant for her Friday fish. Hasn't been on it since. Really has been handy, carrying my "stuff" back and forth to the barn. Stopped at Gander Mountain and checked out all the options, love that four point cage that can carry a ladder! How is your Yamaha coming along Art!

Gettin' close to a deal on a 2210BD with the two cylinder engine but have noticed most other YM's in this range are 3 cylinder. 2210BD was only made in '79 I think. Anyone know if there is something wrong with the two cylinder? I've heard in a small tractor they shake more but are less prone to overheating.<br>

As long as we are chiming, all the points about weight distribution address the compaction issue, but where I have had trouble with weight is when turning. The heavier the machine, the more damage can be done while turning. I mentioned in another thread that I found it necessary to make sure I didn't mow with the loader on, not because of interferences, but because of the weight on the front axles. Depends on your soil for sure, but be carefull of the reaction at the lawn required to turn the tractor.

I also had a Wheel Horse at one time. What a great tractor. Sold it to the neighbor several years ago, he's still using it.

After 10 years and 160k miles I'm still very happy wwith the 5-speed and 3.55 gears (wish for a 6 speed or maybe a splitter... ).

Done lots of hauling and the low 1st gear has more than made up the differance from the 4.10's. Go for the lower gears you'll be happy with the better empty milage. When loaded you can keep it in 5th (if needed) for long hill stretches.

Make sure to get the limited slip diff what ever you do for sure!!

PS: There are 19.5's available aftermarket for the Dodges, better ride longer life (100K miles!!) but big $$$.

Has about 3000 hours. Ssaw archived ad at www.thetorshed.com at $8900 with 2500 hours and one for $11500. The MachineFinder website for dealer has lots of them w/o loaders at $7900 to $10,000 plus, and one at $9000 and one at $11500 with loaders. Of couse dealer prices are always inflated. This guy is a "dealer also", but just a used tractor dealer - mostl old stuff. This is his newest one.
