Ok, let me rephrase my question so I don't sound like a mowing hotrod! When this is happening, I can be traveling at a speed just SLIGHTLY faster than the speed of drying paint, so that is NOT the issue. The issue is that the outside tire appears to be toed-in way too much after the point of 3/4 turned or more, which on the JD is approximately 40-45 degrees in either direction (I also believe the specs on the JD 4300 list the turn at 55 degrees max in either direction). This tearing can be observed in a left or right turn. This is also apparent if on gravel and will also leave a nice black mark on blacktop if turned too sharp in the driveway. (Thanks for the lesson on friction, I must have missed that lecture in physics class) The real reason that I posted this question, is to get some feedback from another 4000 series owner, not a used-tractor-wannabe-a-new-one owner. And yes,I did trade in my Boomer to buy this 4300, and yes, this 4300 is 10 times the unit that my Boomer was. If you are responding to these postings, let's give REAL answers and skip the

I have a LONG 2610 with a LONG loader. It broke in two while cleaning a feence row . the tractor was in low 1st running 1800 rpm. LONG called this customer abbuse, is any one else out there had this problem.

I looked into 4100 vs. 1700 / 2100 / 2400 this spring - we don't have a good boomer dealer locally. Found that prices of 4100 and 1700 were the same (about 12600 with loader, gear trans.) 2100 was $1000 more. stepping up to 2400HST or JD 4200 gear added $2500 to cost. Ended up with the 4100 gear + turf tires. We've been v.happy with it so far - count on buying something to hang off the back end if you use the loader (unless you like excitement).

Folks, I was just wondering if any of you have ever seen what kind of machine it takes to bale the pine straw that I see for sale at nurseries and home improvement centers such as Lowe's, etc. We've all seen the old balers used to bale hay in the rectangle bales. What kind of machine is used to bale pine straw? Anybody seen one? Who makes it? How big it is and how narrow a space will it fit into? How much does it cost? Does it run off pto? Or does it have its own power source to pull behind something else like an atv?? Thanks for any answers.<br>Keith

I can partially answer one of your questions - I don't know how heavy a load of hay or corn is, but I have a similar size tractor (JD4300) and routinely pull a load of 5500lbs (in a tandem trailer) without even noticing it is there. My manula says that I can pull up to 4 times the tractor weight , or about 10000 lbs.

The 4200 is roughly the same, but the supersteer (IMHO) gives the NH the edge. <br>The 4200s engine has to run at a little higher RPM, and the NH has a slightly higher displacement engine, but other than that they seem pretty much equal. (Well the NH does have .3 more PTO HP...)<br>The NH should be a little less $ than the JD, at least it was when we bought ours about 4 months ago. We have a loader, tiller, and finish mower, and the tractor has handled everything we have asked of it.<br>I wouldn't trade my 25D for anything, and I come from a totally green paint background.

Jack,<br>Resin tractor skin is more resilient than sheetmetal. For some reason people are afraid of plastic's strength and its longevity, yet what is the most difficult thing to deteriorate in a landfill? Surely not Sheetmetal! Also, scratches on plastic can be sanded/polished out to look like new. As far as the hydro issue, IMHO, both make reliable units. I personally don't care for the awkwardly designed Kubota system, nor do I care for the Independent brakes to be on the same side as the hydro pedal. Guys talk about using the cruise, but anyone who has used these brakes for turning while performing loader operations knows that setting the cruise isn't worth the hastle. Till I messed around with all of that hassle, I could have done a K turn or something.<br>I think Horrific is a strong word. I can honestly say that I looked and drove both makes with a fine tooth comb, and would never consider one to be Horrific! I would take plastic fenders over sheetmetal anyday. Its nice not worrying about rust or dents.

JD also costs more. Do you mean as a percentage of original street price? Down here the Kubota dealers say they have better resale, while the JD dealer says they have better resale. With cars, there are studies you can look at, but have never seen one for tractors. Could be a regional thing. Not that it matters since I already have a Kubota. I was just interested on whether there were some studies on the subject.

Tracey, The horse farm I used to worked at had a simular set-up. I would take the garden hose from the house and fill the entire section of pipe. then start the pump. The prime got it going every time perfectly. It was a hassle to drag the house-water hose over to fill the pump hose but priming the entire section got it going quickly.

Not exactly a tractor issue, but I'm selling my new Honda Generator in favor of a PTO driven unit. Took delivery about a year ago and used it once for a 1/2 hour, with an electric hedge trimmer. Other than that, I start it about every month or two, to keep things running smooth. Its a Honda EG3500X, rated at 3 KVA, 3.5 KVA (Max output) 25A @ 120v or 12.5A @ 240v. Located in Allentown, PA, about an hour NW of Philadelphia. I paid $1,200 +about $70-75 in tax brand new, I'm thinking $950 is a fair price. I'm trying to mount the Woods 750BH on a JD 4300. The only sub-frame that Woods makes is for the new 7500BH. Can anyone give me an idea what modifications will need to be made to the 750BH in order to make it work with this sub-frame? The 750BH is working fine hanging on the 3ph but I would really like to get it to the subframe if possible.<br>Thanks

I recently got a B2400 and I'm interested in finding a loader. I'd like to see if I could get a used one, but I can't recall seeing one<br>advertised here, or on other sites. Has anyone had any luck finding a used loader? Also, would a smaller loader ( like the one <br>a B1700/2100 fit?

I have supersteer on my TC25D. It is way more handy than I had anticipated. I have a loader and backhoe on it with turf tires. Even with all that weight, I was able to drive around on my lawn and manuver in my backyard without tearing up the lawn. <br>Well worth having. I would really miss supersteer.

The 870 is a newer version than the 850 tractor with some updated features. The 855 was being sold the same time as the 870, but the 855 is a smaller unit with hydrostatic transmisssion.
