I own a Cub 7260 w/R4s, 417 loader and 60

Currently have 95 hours, about half of these are digging and moving piles
(earth, gravel, mulch, etc).
I am VERY pleased with the Cub tractor and 417 loader. It handles 1/2 ton
bucket loads easily. The loader goes on and off easily. The tractor itself
is very well made and feels solid. I have no regrets at all.

any body got any good advice on how to contact john deere about a new 4400 tractor that has too many problems to list here. I have heard of other manufacturers actually taking in a problem unit and replacing it. I maybe looking for too much but as this is my 3rd JD compact they ought to at least listen to me.

this is not the only thing wrong. the 3pt sticks, sometimes up, sometimes down. when it had 10 hours the PTO froze on locking the whole engine and all up. that needed to have the whole hydro replaced. On the whole I think that JD should have looked at placing the levers and switches in more convienent places. when mowing i like to switch back and forth from 4wd so i don't scuff when i don't need the traction. this 4400 makes that manuver very hard to do because you have to bend over. The mower height adjustment is very annoying compared to the 955. and the Secondary hydralic (mower deck or rear hydralic) is a joke, it has had to have many adjustments and it still sticks up or down.

The King Kutter discs I have seen look a little chinsy compared to the colored brands!<br>If you are using it at your home for gardening, you should not have a problem. I would<br>be leary about buying it for a landscape company. Most people will buy one and use<br>it 2 times a year. The weight of the disc is the key. A light frame disc will<br>need more added weight to tear in good. For gardening, I would not hesitate with<br>a King Kutter!

Had this problem with numerous mowers. Always start by securing the mower at a safe angle. I have used 5gal buckets to prop up the back of the mower, with the top link connected to the tractor. As someone mentioned, you can use a handheld angle-grinder and sharpen them on the mower, but it can be a tight fir if you want to do both sides of the blade. I believe you can buy the ROPS at cost from your local JD dealer, as part of JD's<br>tractor safety concerns.

If you don't own a JD4000 Series tractor to compare with your JD870 then don't make statements about the 70 series tractors being a lot better than a 4000 series, Ive owned both and I can assure you that a 70 series is a great tractor but it is not

I have had my IH244 MFD for about 2 months now. Bought it in North Central MT<br>for $6080 with Farmhand Dunham Lehr 48

It has 980 hours on it. Haven't had any problems except all loader frame mounting
bolts were loose and I broke one off trying to remove it. It was too long, had
bottomed out & been over tightened by the prev.owner. Indeed it was not much
fun at all trying to drill out & re-tap it. Finally ended up removing the whole
loader frame, cleaning all holes with a tap, installing new bolts with locktite,
torquing to spec. It works good now. Kubotas, JDs, and Kiotis seem to be most
popular around here (Helena,MT), but are selling $8000 to $15000 range. Too much

I'm looking for a front mount snowblower for a Cub Cadet 7260. Does anybody know of a company that makes one? It seems that Cub Cadet doesn't make a front blower for this tractor.

all of the deisel rated oils will work the viscosity as desribed in the first post is a good rule of thumb. I am now using rotella by shell. but the name is nat as important as it being deisel rated so it can deal with the soot you machine generates.

For what its worth, a friend of mine once told me that cutter blades worked better if dull. He said the shattering effect on sapling retarded regrowth. I sharped mine once after I hit a pipe and took some chunks out, but they dulled right down very quickly. I must admit that in spite of this I am tempted periodically to yank them out and grind them, but I have resisted so far and they still cut great. Happy mowing.

Some of the other brand hoes have holes drilled through the swing and through the boom so you can install a pin with a ball on the end (like a ratchet extension). I had an older hoe that didn't have this. Are you sure yours doesn't have this setup already? If you have 2 1

The Yanmar powershift transmission works much like driving an automobile with an automatic transmission, but shifting the gears manually. You can shift up and down through the forward gears without depressing the clutch, and stop and reverse direction by shifting through neutral without depressing the clutch. This allows the implement to continue turning at full speed because the clutch hasn't been engaged. Because it is not necessary to engage the clutch to change ground speeds or stop and reverse direction, the clutch can be used exclusively to control the PTO. By use of this scheme, Yanmar achieved the functionality of a live PTO with what is essentially a transmission driven PTO.

I looked at a Ford NH 3415 with 7309 loader today and I had a couple of questions:<br>Would this be a comparable model to a jd 1070? That is the other machine I have been looking at and I was hoping to compare apples to apples. The 3415 I drove today is a '96 model with 280 hours. It looks brand new. When I started the tractor cold today (it had not been driven for about a week) the clutch would not engage but after warming up a minute or two it struggled into gear and I moved dirt and drove around for 30-45 minutes without any shifting problems. Could this be a result of sitting for a while. With 280 hours on a 96 model it couldn't have been driven much in the last few years. Also the pto lever seems to have three shifting positions: 1)engaged=forward= tractor won't start in this position, 2)neutral=middle=tractor will start in this position 3)?=back or rearward position=engine wont' start in this position. After I left I was wondering if this could be like a ground speed pto position or there be a problem? An older Ford 3000 had three positions for its pto but did not have ground speed pto.<br>I really like this tractor but I don't want to fall in love with it if this model is known for some kind of problems. I don't see as many of them as I do 1700 or 1900 series. My last price was quoted at $14000. Is that reasonable? Thanks for any input on this machine.

It is supposed to be 90 degrees in our part of PA today but I can't help thinking how nice it would be to have a 3 pt. snowblower for this coming winter. I have a 1520 New Holland with loader and usually use a back blade/loader combo for snow removal and it works good enough. I thought with the blower that it would be quicker (maybe only 1 pass vs several for the backblade in deep snow) and I could avoid the huge piles of snow everywhere that seem to stay around forever. <br>Having a gravel driveway, I was planning on making an additional set of skids to keep the blower at least 2 inches off the surface. Having used a walk behind blower for small jobs, I know that gravel will get picked up in the snow and thrown 50', but it has to be less than plowing. <br>I've seen the rear mount blowers around and wondered what other experiences are out there. I mentioned the snowblower to the wife and she looked at me like I had a screw loose since we're heading to a 4th of July party. Thanks for any suggestions and/or recommendations.
