i looked at a 790 and i found that it is a 20 hp tractor with a 30 hp engine it only weighs 2100 lbs and don't think it would have much pulling ability. i ended up buying a 36 hp cub cadet . it weighs 3200 lbs and i think is a better tractor. i paid 14700 with no loader. hope this helps you out.

In January I bought a NH TC18. The pedal on that seemed stiff...so I I greased the daylights out of the pedal pivot and then went after the linkage to the valve,<br>which led to the valve. The valve itself was very tight and silcon spray appeared to help conciderably. Not so bad now. <br>Jerry

HELP....I'm thinking about upgradeing to a JD compact from a 15HP yanmar. Could anyone tell me the differences between the JD850/870/970? I'm thinking something around these lines would work well. I've used a kubota B9200 22.5hp, and it just doesn't seem to have enough guts.<br>Any estimated pricing would be great too!!

A live pto worrks off of the clutch. When the pedal is raised half way the pto is engaged. An independent pto is activated by a seperate control, independent of the clutch pedal. Both use a 2 stage clutch.

I have been wanting to buy a New Holland TC33D for a few months, but unfortunately the local dealers in Northern California have not had any in stock, plus they have not been very good with prices compared to what I have seen here. They just don't seem willing to deal at all. I even tried hardball, saying I was going to buy a JD instead because it was cheaper. No impact. Plus they were poor at getting back to me. I guess business is too good?<br>Well last week when I was up at the Richie Brothers auction in Olympia, Washington and I purchased a John Deere 850B dozer. When I contracted to haul this large machine down to California, it got me thinking that I could purchase the TC33D in Washington or Oregon and have it brought down on the same load. So I went to the New Holland web site and got all the names/numbers of all the dealers close to Interstate 5 on the way down to California. It takes a little work, because you put in a zip code and it gives you the three closest dealers. So you just keep working your way down the direction you searching for. I ended up with about six dealers.<br>After calling them all up, I found two dealers that had machines in stock with the configuration I wanted, Deluxe model, hydrostatic transmission, and SuperSteer. The funny thing was that a couple of the dealers I talked said

Both dealers I did not do any hard press on prices. I just explained my situation, and that I was ready to buy immediately because of the truck I had coming down. Metro New Holland in Hillsboro, OR quoted me $17.2K. Pretty much list price. Salem Ford New Holland, Salem, OR quoted $15,977. Both of these guys had the tractors in stock. I also got on other outfit, River Valley Equipment in Central Point, OR (close to the CA border) to quote me $15,750 but they could not get one quickly enough.
So I ended up getting the machine from Salem Ford New Holland. I ended up adding a loader, which brought the price to $19,461. I maybe paid too much for the loader, but that is life... The salesperson, Carl Capps, was good to work with. One great bonus was that Oregon does not have any sales tax. That means I saved another $1,600!!! Don't worry, I support the state enough as it is...
Unfortunately, I have not yet got the machine. Turns out my dozer was too heavy to bring down on a single load, without costly permits, so it's coming down on two separate trucks. The dozer without the blade weighed in at 46K pounds. I got the dozer yesterday. The blade (5K pounds) and the TC33D (2.4K pounds) will be here on Saturday.

Mike. Was messing around today pulling some old bushes that my wife wanted to replace and I took a closer look at the loader. At the very bottom of the arms where they connect to the bucket are two welded plates about 2 inches square. Both of these have wear marks on the outside edges and only contact the bucket at about three forths of the way down. I wonder if on a heavy load the bucket sags just enough to hang up at idle rpm and extra rpm jerks the bucket past that point? Couln't try a loaded bucket test as it poured last night and my dirt pile is soaked and it also was getting pretty dark. If that is the hang up point then maybe some grease will solve the problem. Check yours and let me know what you find. Bo

Does anyone have a source for spares for a 5' FMC Sidewinder Rotary Mower. I've lost the

I don't know if I have explained this very well but without it, every time the mowewr comes off the ground, the wheel can drop about 2" to the top of the "A" frame. The bolt that is supposed to hold the "cap" and wheel in place will stop the wheel dropping out through the frame but not for long if it gets beaten up like that. Can't source parts locally so I may end up having to try to make something that will work.
I'm hoping that some of you knowledgable people out there can help.

Kubota seems to offer a pretty compact/slick system, unfortunately I have no experience <br>with how well it works. Its powered off the mid PTO from the mower, and the blower unit is<br>located at the exit of the mower deck. This is more of a blower design, rather than a suction type.<br>I have a few reservations about it, only for reasons mentioned below. I have used 3 different rear mounted <br>units, (2)Trac-Vac,(1)Allis C. The larger housing 4 blade Trac-Vac units are definitely <br>king over the smaller housed two blade AC unit, especially in terms of ability to handle <br>wet grass,leaves, ect. Hence, my feeling of importance to look at the fan/blade size and quantity. A <br>large/wide 4 blade will obviously move more air per revolution than a 2 blade, & make more noise <br>in the process. Secondly, Thick/heavy stuff req's HP, go for the larger engine option <br>if one is available. IMHO, A system like the Kubota's, was designed to work well for the typical grass <br>lawn. But you may be a little disappointed if the quantity of trees in your lawn have the ability to create<br>a blanket over the grass in fall. Just a reminder: I've never used the Kub system, so I can only speak from <br>my experience with Trac-Vac and AC. FYI: www.Trac-vac.com
