i figure you bought one of the winco generators for your tractor, they use a keyed input on the generator. do yoou have a keyed shaft on your tractor? most are splined shafts.<br>winco makes an adaptor for a keyed to splined shaft pto shaft, you can get it from northern hydraulics, cost about $50

Mike, I have to assume that the manufacturer knows what it's talking about (that's why I bought the tractor from them (Deere) not someone else). It would not surprise me that the Deere hydro does not have a problem with break-in garbage as some other manufacturer's tractors might have. Perhaps Deere requires the hydro manufacturer to do something that some others do not. Perhaps they have a better filtration system. If Deere says a change of filters and fluid is not needed for 500 hours, I'm not going to cut their recommendation by 90% to throw money away. And, unless the service is actually needed, you have just flushed your money down the drain. If they want the engine oil changed at 50 hours, why don't we do it at five hours instead? It's the same principle.

I wanted to buy the 870 but could not do so because I could not get R4s with it. I thought it was a better buy than the 4200 I bought. I am happy with the 4200 though. You didn't lose anything.

I recently purchased an L-3010, HST, LA-481 loader, ag tires, fixed ROPS and a SQ-72

I have tried the 2600 RPM in high gear and have not had any trouble....in fact I abslutely love my tractor and would not have gotten anything different. Good luck, Doug

I have seen quite a few 2wd JD 650's w/no loader in SC in the $5k range, give or take about $800. Since the one you are looking at is 4wd, then you can probably add about $1000 for that. The control valve costs $600 new, so you might want to include maybe $300 for that. Or from another angle, you could subtract out the items you don't want in the deal. The mower is probably about a $700 item used, but I really don't have a clue as to how the dozer blade is worth. You didn't say if it had hydraulics or not, but I would guess that it does. I would say offer around $5800 for the tractor itself. If you go to low, you insult the seller. If you are in his low range, then you can always bargain your offer up to an agreeable amount. Personally, I don't think I would go above $6000 unless you just really want it bad enough (but that's mho). Just for comparison, I bought a nice '81 2wd 21hp JD 750 (977 hours and no loader) with a 4 foot disc harrow and a 4 foot bushhog last February for all of $5000. Good luck....<br>Keith

I would like to find one myself. I have looked to no avail. The hp is truly there and if you needed more rpm just use the appropriate gear box.<br>I'll post if I run accross anything in the future

I'm a little confused..<br>I guess that is because people use independent left/right brakes differently.<br>Under cruise conditions, The only time I could imagine needing the Independent left/right<br>brakes would be to help the front wheels pull back into line while plowing or doing something<br>like rotary cutting, while traveling along a sloped hill. I own a 2204 with a frontend loader,for the price you can't beat it.<br>I us mine as if it was a d-9 dozer.The only problems I've had is the same<br>with anyother small tractor it won't move the big items.If I had to purchase <br>another I'd buy one.

See my comments a few threads up. With the cruise lever the brakes are not a problem for turning, and for everythibng else simply releasing the hydr pedal stops the tractor NOW. Not a reason to avoid orange all else being equal.

I bought a NH2120 (34 PTO HP, 42 engine HP) with a Woods 1020 loader and Gearmore box scraper several months ago. I've moved a fair amount of dirt so far and am very happy with the setup. Now I'm getting ready to put about 5 acres into irrigated grass pasture. Any suggestions on how big a roto-tiller I can pull? Same question for a mower. I'm leaning toward a bush hog rotary mower as I also have some rolling hills full of brambles and brush to maintain but am open for any and all suggestions.<br>Thanks

Based on my experience with a 4 ft bushhog on a B7100 4x4 I think you would have a tough time keeping the front down even if you could pick up the mower. I run with a loader on hilly terrain. I can't imagine what the extra amount of side swing would do to control and stability of the tractor. I am happy with the 4 foot but my brother runs circles around me with his lawn tractor in the same field.

I wish to buy a flail mower in the not to distant future and have a few questions before I lay out some cash.<br>I already have a 6' Luck Now rotary cutter (brush hog) mounted on my NH 3930, however it seems a little slow and most of the time cumbersome around the house, drive shed and various out buildings.Im cutting mostly <br>hay field type material with a couple of berry canes mixed in on the field<br>edges.<br>I want to mount a flail mower on primarily my NH 1720 (23.5 PTO hp) and occasionaly on the NH 3930 (45 PTO hp).<br>The New Holland sales flyer recomends a 71

I have no expierence with flail mowers so I don't know how much hp they gobble up.

rotary as far as time wise (7.5 acres)?.

For a point of reference, a rear blade is similar to dozer blade that you pull with the tractor's 3pt hitch. With that in mind, a box blade has sides on each end of the back blade that travels toward the 3pt hith arms. With requsite cross bracing along the top, you get a box like configuration. All of that extra metal makes it much more heavier, a plus for digging and grading as the sides keep the material from spilling out. The down side, is that they cannot be angled to pull material to the side in certain grading operations. <br>Box blades frequently come with scarifier teeth to help break up the material to be moved. A rear blade will seldom break and move hard packed material.<br>Lee
