Hey guys great feedback.

With all this talk of prostate and hair coloring and baldness, I am feeling younger by the minute as I do not yet have those issues, so far :-)

I think I might start lifting some light dumbells and some basic excercises to make me feel a little stronger, then maybe things will not seem so hard.

A neighbor of mine had a 2wd Honda 5518 that he loved except he cursed its lack of traction. I convicced him that 4WD would make all the difference in the world.

He found a dealer that sold Honda yard equipment who took his tractor on consignment and sold it for a commision.

He then bought a Kubota BX 4WD and has been one happy camper for 17 years.

For me infinite speed adjustment with PTO at full speed at all times is critical for opertions like mowing where you need to constantly change speeds.

That said a Gear machine is generally simpler to repair than a Hydraulic based transmission.

The brakes on these tractors are almost never ever used unlike on a car. On a car you are free wheeling and have a ton of weight and speed and heat. On your BX that is not the case.<br>

Forgetting to release the brake is not going to cause you any problems. But do not keep doin it :-(<br>

Anyone able to explain how I can remove the steering column?
I got as far as removing 3 bolts at the base, but something else is holding it in place.

Just had my arm operated on, so unable to do anything right now, but will be back in action soon.

My current pickup purchase was driven heavy by my wife. I am sure my old one being manual trans F 250, manual four wheel drive engagement, cloth seat, had no impact on with my wife encouraging me to get a F 150 with car like ride and leather interior and auto trans and electric engaging four wheel drive. Funny when I bought the F 250 for about 25% of the F 150 that was a lot of money but the four fold price for the 150 was reasonable.

Thanks for your help again yes I figured out that it was a grey market tractor the 2 cylinder diesel was just rebuilt professionally and it had a nice loader from bush hog I loved how narrow it is 50inchs I'm a stone mason and getting up sidewalks is a bonus so yes I bought it it runs great and so far no leaks except for some hydrologic lines witch I will replace. Already bought a finish mower a back blade and I had a post hole digger cleared 2 acres of small trees with it last week I'll be in touch when I need parts thanks again for your help you kind of convinced me not to be too scared of the grey market tractors

The only thing I did was remove the stone guard which reduces wet nsow clogging immensely.

Also being sure to coat the auger and chute with silicone or other spray seems to help a lot.

It sounds like you should be more than capable of overhauling the primary clutch. It also sounds like you got a batch of bad gas into it. For a while, I was buying ethanol-free gas for my motorcycles. I got a bad batch and it affected three machines in a similar way--missing, vibrating, and not revving out. It's water and age. Gas that has ethanol in it will absorb a lot of water without your being able to see it in the bottom of a container. Fuel stabilizer helps against aging, but not against water, and can only do so much. I've gotten to the point that I rotate my gas at home through my truck, and try to keep things fresh in the equipment that doesn't get used a lot. Rebuilding the clutch is not a bad job. The worst of it is the in/out of the clutch itself, though I guess you might be able to do it without removal from the engine. Gatoraider knows what he's talking about.

You would be far better off with a used larger chassis tractor. Minimum would be a B series and preferably the larger B series like a B-7800 or newer equivalent.

Hello everyone!
Thank you again for all your information.
I changed the fuel filter and that solved the issue. It was so dirty and there was sediment in the bottom of the filter cup. But that's no surprise since I didn't change it last year... I will never make that mistake again.

I will keep the info everyone gave me for future use in case something goes awry.

So nice to be able to use my machine again :)

I think this is common problem with this series of tractors. I bought a Case/IH with a broken frame & have heard of a couple others that broke. Most of the ones in salvage yards have broken clutch housings.

My 2002 TC29D whines only when in cold weather during start ups( below 30def). It is only doing it while the hyd oil is cold. After a couple of minutes of moving it it stops. Great little tractor, 3000 hrs on it. I just raise and lower loader some if I cannot wait for it to warm up completely. Good luck!
