Alan if your mower has the four gauge wheels they should all be set the same. I don't know of any manufacturer of three point hitch mowers that doesn't build the deck so the front is built naturally lower. On the point of bogging down in the tall grass, unfortunatly you might be in too tall of grasses for the mower to handle it well. You might need to try a slower speed or to cut less. I know it's tough but you are not supposed to cut more than 1/3 of the height of your grass at a time. Thats the way it's supposed to be mowed anyway not that it happens often enough.

I just bought a used 72" side discharge caroni finish mower. I have used it twice to mow about 5 acres, so far so good. It seems to be well made and it mows fine. I don't think it is a bad way to go at all. Parts for these mowers are readily availble from what I can tell, I am totally satisfied. I also have a caroni roto-tiller and no complaints there either.

As an Engineer I can tell you without hesitation, NOTHING is impossible, it's just that the more difficult something is to do, the more it will ultimately cost. We can send people to the moon and back, but is it worth the cost??? If you were handy with a welder, etc., or knew someone who was, it is an easy thing (relatively speaking) to do, it is only the actual mount to the machine that needs to change in order for the bolts to line up, etc. I have put several JD cabs on Kubotas & New Hollands (got several surplus units cheap)it was only a few hours to change-over mounting points. Mark, I have to chuckle at your decision to go with wheel weights. I try to help out people who want fluid in their tires by drawing on my own experiences trying various fluids.....But it suddenly dawns on me that for my own tractors (now 3 of 'em) I have gone completely to wheel weights. I no longer run any type of tire fluid.

Something else to keep in mind is that these little engines are used in all sorts of other applications from ice cream truck refrigerators to sailboats. I'd be willing to bet these other applications rack up significantly faster hours than we do in our compacts.

Maby you are right But it is just a garden tractor AND I made a mistake it is a 917 with 17HP not a 919 with 19hp. I can go buy a tiller brand new for about 500 But I think you are right About the front end loader I gess I will check it out.

I'm a recent purchaser of a YM 336D. I've been reading all of your threads for awhile. This is my first tractor.It was bought as is. Runs but creeps and has no power.I'll post quest. later. The model B-2150 was replaced by the B-2710 and yes the loader is heavier. The two loaders are built comparable in strenth to the tractor they are mounted to. The cutting edge of the buckets are about the same and the bucket material is about the same. You can often use a loader for more than it is designed for but you need to use common (cents) and good judgement. There is 5 lbs difference between the 48" bucket on a La272 and the 54" bucket on a La402 which is probably just the weight of the material difference. The top of the bucket is not mean't to do anymore than contain the material from running over the back of the bucket. When fastening hooks or lifting devices off the top of the bucket we always add a top rail for support.

Frank, a number of companies make the contraption you mentioned, with very slight variations. I think every hardware store in this part of the country has them. And I have one; even use it occasionally. A neighbor also has a contraption that looks a great deal like the old manually pushed reel type lawn mowers with a grass catcher, except the reel is larger with lots of rubber "fingers" that the nuts stick between, then fixed fingers knock them off into the catcher. Both types work great on CLEAN, SMOOTH, HARD SURFACES. In other words, practically useless in real life conditions.

Tim, some oil, particularly specialized 'performance' types, contain additives which will only stay stable or homogenized (mixed thoroughly) with the base oil for a set period of time, after which they are useless, or at least do not perform the way they should. This is not to say that the oil is 'garbage' it just means that for any critical application it is not what the label says it is or will do. The oil will be perfectly acceptable for general use, just treat it as if it were plain non-detergent oil. Best of luck.

I have the same problem with my loader. Although I am the guilty party.My loader is a brush hog brand that seems to be of a universal mounting type. The loader attaches to the tractor via two ear type posts mounted to the frame. One of the things that I am thinking is that one side may have slightly rotated down on this "post" so I'm considering loosing the mounting bolt on that side and putting down pressure on the bucket and then retightning. Would like to hear any opinions on this procedure that any one may have, because I am not all to sure what to do either! I don't know if any of this will help you out with your loader problem, hope it will though.

Battery clamp the wire had gone bad & had to be cut & new clamp installed worked

Hello,<br>I am looking at purchasing a Woods 1006 loader for my <br>New Holland TC-18 4wd tractor. I have a question regarding<br>the front hook-up. I use the tractor with a 3PT.<br>finish mower and use front weights to counter the rear<br>mower. Would I be able to use the weights with the <br>1006 loader? I really dont want to mow with the loader<br>as a counter weight. Any help would be great. Got price of $2,500 for Woods and $3,000 for Ford 7106.<br>Thank you
