That is awesome! Bluegrass is pretty big up here in S/W PA believe it or not. On a side note my aunt was from Boone and I visited there a long time ago. My uncle had a job where he moved to a new location every few years. Her family was in the furniture business and whenever she moved into a new house she'd call home, place her order and have new furniture shipped to her new house. Must be nice...

Thanks for the link. Handy to have. As you noted, the schematic, like the one in my hard copy service manual, doesn't show the timer or relay.

I now suspect that my glow plugs were probably toast by the first time I noticed the light on unexpectedly so I may have been without functioning glow plugs for years.

Temperatures below 50 during the day are rare here. In a few months I will give it a try in the early morning.

My tractor manual says change the oil every 100 hours or more frequently if the operating conditions are severe. (Manual's filter change interval is 200 hours, not that I've ever changed the oil without changing the filter.)
I change the oil and filter every 2 years as I don't usually put on the hours.

One of the advertised 'benefits' of synthetic oils is you could stretch the oil change to twice as long, however my '16 Subaru requires synthetic every 6000 miles, which is less than my '08 Subaru at 7,500 miles using conventional oil. Go figure. I use synthetic or a synthetic blend in my tractor for cold-starting performance, not for an extended service interval. But if you have a tractor with a turbo or other fancy engine stuff, stretching the changes is asking for trouble.

Consumer Reports evaluated oil change strategies a few years ago in NYC cab fleets and found no engine life benefits to changing the oil more frequently than the manufacturer's recommendations. You can also pack a sample off to a lab periodically and they'll tell you the health of the oil (and engine) and if it needs to be changed. Now, the test costs about what an oil & filter change is, so do you test or change?

So, I wouldn't go much past 100 hours without good reason. If you don't do it every year it's not the end of the world.

Should you change the oil in your tractor every year even if the hours are really low. I use synthetic oil it should last for multiple years if I only put on less than 100 hours a year. But I change it every season is that excessive. I also change the filter of course what are you guys doing

Actually I had just purchased the forks. The forks have a lip that hooks on the front. On the rear of the forks there are chains that go around the back and then clamps over the top edge.

I have use the forks to move brush around. It works good. You can push under or load the brush on and then just drop it out.

Having the same issue with Shibaura D265f the lift in back will not come up ! Can push bottom under the seat it will come up

I think this is one of those 'there's no right answer' questions.

First off, the dealers position, wheels straight & etc., is sound advice. The 'no clutch' part isn't wrong, the front axle / rear axle connection is after the clutch so as long as the wheels are turning the gears are doing the same things, regardless of clutch / no clutch.

The owners manual position, again, not wrong. The likely reason for that recommendation though is that there's a lead / lag in the front to rear axle gear ratios. The front axle spins 35 - 5% faster than the rear axle to prevent 'wallowing' while underway. The reduced load by depressing the clutch would reduce the load on the gears while shifting into / out of 4WD.

The clutch only needs to be depress for a second or two while shifting, there's no need to hold it down for long enough for the tractor or mower to come to a stop though.

Hi, I know this is a very old thread that you posted on in 2009 regarding the Reverse Flow adapter and filter for a Cub Cadet 6284 tractor. I have a 2005 6284 that doesn't or has been converted to the adapter and filter. I ordered on and now have it to be installed.
Question: Does this Reverse Flow adapter installed on the lower left hydraulic transmission side?
Also, the adapter came with a "nipple" that appears to replace the one in the transmission.
I'm thinking this Reverse Flow assembly may replace the Hydrostatic filter instead of the hydraulic one. I would hate to drain all the 26 qts. of fluid and it be wrong. Reply if you like.

I live atop Lookout Mountain in Northern Alabama on 13 acres; nothing level about my property. I have two NH Boomers, TC33D and a TC40D. I want to install wheel spacers on both to stabilize them a little better on sloping ground. I�m thinking 2� spacers on them; is that enough or too much? Also, should I put them on the front wheels as well? Will the spacers mess up the steering geometry in any way; both are 4 wheel drive? Where would you recommend I purchase the spacers? Need input please!

This year it was super hot but we did have a bit more rain. I set my mower to 3 and 3/4 inches all season. And could be the added moisture but the raised mower made it easier to mow with less windrows, and more grass than weeds by a wide margin over the last ten years of close mowing.

So I am sold for now on high mower settings.
