I recently purchased a used JD 4410. It has been working fine, but suddenly stopped pulling. I can put it in reverse and it still pulls. Any Idea what is wrong?

I think you have WD-40 confused with another product, there is nothing in WD-40
(see MSDS sheet above) that would affect an O-ring.

Interesting, I see lots of metal roofs going up. Are there are downsides to metal? Are they loud in the rain? Can you get on the roof and walk as easily as on shingles? Up in the north I would worry about the snow sliding off even though I now there are metal "cups" you can add to prevent this?. Do they really last a lifetime?

do you have hydraulics and moves in gear?i think you have all in one hydraulic/transmission/power steering and possibly wet brakes which all use the same fluid,do you have a cap on the gear case area down between your legs and probably a sight glass or fluid level check plug on the side of the gear case

Murf makes a good, possibly big money saving point. I started to mention that possibility right at the start of this thread. All that's happened to your pump at this point is you've lost some seals in it.

Any hydro-static drive unit will have a bypass control valve, basically a 'dump valve' that allows you to push or tow the unit without which the wheels turn the drive motor which then becomes a pump and pressurizes the system.

Everything seeming normal but having no forward or reverse is a classic symptom of that valve being in the bypass position instead of the engaged or operation position.

The simple way to diagnose it is to merely try pushing the mower with the engine off. If it rolls fairly easy the valve is the culprit. If it seems like the brakes are on, keep looking.

The valve is almost always on the transaxle and is a lever that doesn't seem to connect to anything but a spring to hold it one position or another.

If the bore is large enough I would highly recommend you stick a bore scope down the hole and see if the other half is still down there.

If it is and you stick a second one in you could move the broken half into an 'undesirable location' (read "bad place") and cause all sorts of issues and spendy damage.

One of my neighbors took this to such and extreme that even if he only had a couple of washers leftover from a project he would take them back to Home Depot. That way he would not have to search for them as he knew he had Zero of them in inventory !!<br>

I have to say I just never take leftovers back and man do they collect dust in the garage. <br>

In an attempt to get more organized and be able to find it when I need it I bought a 4 Craftsman storage boxes from Lowes. The two main boxes are SQUEEZERS anything that works like a pliers, and the other Is POINTERS chisels, screw drivers etc..<br>

Everything is just tossed in the box based on this division, hard to believe how many of each I have. But at least I have a shot at finding what I need, beats my old NON method of just tossing into one box, or hanging on wall was hopeless<br>

If your mower has the access port on top just the extension will be enough block once it butts up to the side of the opening.

The blades on a rough mower like this pivot to prevent damage if they hit something. There is no way to block the blade like on a lawn mower since the fixed portion is usually about 18" away from the case.

I have seen people put a bar through the U joint and block it against the case but that;'s a pretty sketchy way to do it IMHO.

I have been using a Rhino rotary cutter on my Case IH 30c tractor for 5 years. I had used it for about an hour this summer and it suddenly stalled the tractor when the Rhino bound up. There was nothing under the cutter to cause that, but the blades were overlapped. I thought replacing the blades would take care of the problem, but when I started the PTO again the same thing happened.<br>
Any ideas? Would replacing the stump jumper pan solve this problem?

Yes as you say injectors could be the cause of the leak into the crankcase.

You say it has only 300 hours that is not much at all for the injectors to fail so early. You also say it runs great, with bad injectors it could run rough and be hard to start,and have other running issues.

You say you have algae in the tank.

Could the fuel pump be messed up so that it does not close completely when turned off?

Was not aware Ammo was a true Shop Tool but have a grandson who would argue it is a necessity to have big boxes available for you never know when the need or opportunity may come up.

Is that the only caliber you track? For those here in Canada can you help them?
