We'll have to get Murf or somebody to weigh in on this problem. But if my memory serves, the vent you're talking about is the overflow for the oil chamber for the pump. Those pumps use 30wt oil to lube them and you're supposed to check the oil level by filling with oil til it runs out the vent. You're supposed to change the oil in the pump periodically as well. ....

You mean you have diesel coming out of the vented fill plug? If so, that's not good. That would mean you're pump is full of diesel instead of oil. There are some good videos on YouTube on how to change your injector pump. I've done it on mine and it wasn't too hard. I got my replacement pump from Northern Tool a lot cheaper than at a tractor place. ....

That was 10 yrs. ago. I found out through this forum that Jinma tractors are the same as the tractors Northern sells by a different name. I just called and they put me through to their tractor dept. and I told the guy I needed a injection pump for a Y385 and he said no problem. I didn't mention it was for a jinma. It was shipped to my house in less than a week for half of what a dealership wanted. I think $230.00 back then. There is a o stamped on the flywheel and one on the pump gear. Make sure you line those up before you take the pump gear off.

You might as well keep running what you have till it quits. It might run a while like that. ....

Found my old thread about my pump. I see the pump was actually $295 plus shipping. But it was 10 yrs. ago.

Wow! 23 days since my last post. It took a while, but I finally got a new pump. It stayed backordered so long at farmpro.com that I finally gave up and cancelled the order.

I went through some more old threads here and found out that the NorTrac tractor that Northern Tools sells is a Jinma in disguise.

So I call Northern and sure enough they have the pump in stock. And a $100 dollars cheaper to boot. $294.00 plus $11.00 shipping. It was here in 4 days.

I put it on Thursday after work but ran out of light before I could finish everything. Yesterday after work I got the front cover back on and the radiator hose put back and filled the radiator. Then the better half wanted to go out to eat.

This morning I was chomping at the bit to get out there and see what it would do. I rechecked everything I had done and primed it to the hose coming from the filter. Left the nuts on the hard lines loose.

Turned it over and as the fluid came out solid tightened the nuts. She cranked when I tightened the first line then got stronger when I snugged the second. She really smoothed out when I got the third one tight.

I let her idle a long time while I looked everything over then took her out and mowed about 3 hrs., filled her back up and mowed another 2 hrs.

It might be my imagination but I swear it seems like she has more power than before and cranks a whole lot easier.

Big Thank You's to everyone for your help in getting her going again. .... ....

Sorry, late to the party, again. LOL.

Some of those Asian pumps use seals that don't like cold weather, if you live in a cold climate you can expect a shorter life span.

If there's a decent pump & injector shop around you, ask any ag or heavy equipment shop for recommendations, let them have a look at it. If it's an easy fix it might not be too spendy.

Best of luck. ....

Murf makes a good, possibly big money saving point. I started to mention that possibility right at the start of this thread. All that's happened to your pump at this point is you've lost some seals in it. ....
