I have a 2004 Kubota 4330 with the GST transmission. On occasion it will move but most of the time when I turn the key on to allow the glow plugs to turn on, the dash indicates "service inspect ABCDEFGH". The glow plugs do not come on but the tractor will start. Once started, the tractor will not go into any gear and move. On occasion, cycling the key will clear the service inspect message and the tractor will function as it should. The hydraulics seem to work as they should (loader, 3 point hitch, power steering). The tractor will move when the service inspect message is on and if the transmission ECU is disconnected and the emergency jumper under the seat is connected. I have replaced the battery and changed the hydraulic oil and filters. Still no change. Does anyone have any ideas of what may be causing this issue?? It is intermittent but is more frequent as of lately.

I guess you mean the Glow Plug Light does not come on, but the glow plugs do heat up or else it would not start.

The Service "ABCDEFGH" I guess, as I do not have this tractor refers to Service item "A" thru "H" in your manual. This is probably a hour meter based alert say every 350 hours.

Check your manual for how to reset the Maintenance alert.

But I doubt being lax in performing maintenance would cause the Kubota to say hey that is enough I am not going anywhere until you clean my fluids :-).

Art White should be able to answer this question if he is around.

Best of Luck

Two buttons next to the steering column will or should clear the codes. You do have a problem that will take more to diagnosis and that is going to take testing. With any kind of luck it will fail and become easier to chase. Have not had anything that is a yes it is this! Check all your wiring connections and the wires to be sure that it is not something simple. ....

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Not to sound ignorant or anything but I am aware of the process to clear the service alert message that usually pops up. I do understand that we need to start somewhere and sometimes it could be something that simple. I have cleared it in the past when doing the recommended maintenance. It is simply by pressing and holding the :display mode" and "travel speed" button down for approximately 2-3 seconds with the tractor ignition on and not running. Unfortunately the buttons do not seem to do anything any longer, or at least nothing that I have observed. It was only displaying this intermittently but now seems to be on all of the time. ....

I have a little experience with the GST units, see my picture 6 for example.

I've had 2 units that did this over the years, 1 was stolen before we could sort it out. The second one was a head scratcher.

Finally we *** think *** we solved the problem by taking apart and cleaning every single wire connection the mechanics could find.

Or could simply have just gone away just like it mysteriously showed up in the first place.

BTW, I'm only about 1.5 hrs north of you across Lake Ontario on the north side of the GTA.

Best of luck. ....
