Next year, 2001, will mark the fortieth anniversary of the Cub Cadet tractor. I'm eager to know if MTD has anything special planned to mark this milestone. Will there be any new models? Will MTD finally introduce a higher powered HS compact other than the present 7305? Will they finally offer a larger backhoe attachment other than the totally anemic 408 presently in the lineup? Will MTD start offering collectibles like New Holland, JCB, Deere, and so many others? Or will it just be the typical marginal "new" offerings for just "another" year. Wise up MTD, this is a wondeful chance to PR the Cub name into a larger share of the markt!I own three (3) Cubs, one of the first 10,000 61's, a series 2000 gear drive, and a 7275. If something better is going to be offered I may just replace the 7275 by trading up.Any dealers have any inside info? Any brave souls in MTD PR want to make an advance bulletin? We Cub fans are all ears.

Woodie, I backed into a tree with my rear blade attached and bent the right side male bar in the upward direction. I ordered one from my local dealer for $9.95 however, it was on back order. I got creative, took it apart and bent it flat again and it has held up well. Along with that I also bent the top draw bar pretty bad! To replace it with a Kabota, $159.00....to replace it with an aftermarket version from the local Tractor Supply Company, $22.95! The way I see it, I can bend and buy 4 more before I tell myself I should have bought the kubota part! Good Luck!

You know, that might be it. I was thinking the other end all the time, that it wasn't getting enough oil, hence my preoccupation with the filter. I have had this valve apart, when I took the system apart, and checked it for debris, visible wear, etc. That is when I tried to replace the O-ring. There is leakage by the spring loaded valve and I have to keep a close check on the level of the fluid. Sounds expensive, but it may just be the solution. I will look into it.

Coffield, I too have a recently purchased JD 4300. The rear pto operates on my tractor exactly as yours. When using the bush hog mower the pto lever goes forwards quite easily. If you pull it back quickly the blades make a loud whack. I take my fist and bump the lever back an inch or two or until the pto light goes out. Then at an idle pull the lever back slowly and watch the driveshaft slow down. You still might get a thunk. There is nothing wrong with your tractor. Jim in Middleton

As far as avoiding any particular year, I would shy away from the first couple of years they were built. These units did not have a two stage clutch. They did however have a built-in over-running clutch to compensate, but weren't as convenient for pto work. Otherwise all years were very reliable tractors.

Boy do i have the trees to burn! can't now due to burn ban,it's been over 100 degrees here for 27 straight days and no rain. Sorry to say but no loader here.
I will have to make due with the box blade to move trees around best i can.I'm concerned about all of the small "stick ups" and them causing flat tires, it's hard to avoid them all.Dozer guy didn't do a very good job,left a bunch of stumps too. He said the ground was to hard to push the stumps out???Also told my wife he didn't want to hurt his dozer!I'v been told to drag a 10 ft. piece of fence to smooth ground,any suggestions? I'm envious of the 33D.Almost traded mine for a TC29D with loader but funds were a little short.

yes my 2110 is 4cyl and i do belive it has the taller rubber on it, i also noted in tractor tips they list the engine as a gas job, not a diesel.

what oil and fuel filter as well as oil to use in a nh 2110 diesel

I went with a TC33D w/SS & 7308 loader for $16500. With only 60 hours on it, I've had only 1 real problem - the entire dash had to be replaced due to the tack & hour meter not working. The New Holland seemed to be heavier built & better engineered. I was equally impressed with the smaller smaller Kubota B2910 which I think actually gets more power per pound to the ground better than any. Kubota's HST is probably the best from what learned. In the end, the dealer, price, & financing made my decision. I think that I would have been happy with either machine. The Boomers are popular, Kubota undeniably reliable, Deere questionable quality & service...

Rick, I have a JD4300 w/hydro, MFWD, Front End Loader, canopy, R4s, and foldable ROPS. I had to extrapolate the price of the tractor out of the sale price but the best I can figure I paid about $15,900 for the tractor by itself. With a mower, the JD price sounds in the ballpark. I can't speak to the price of the NH.

I am thinking of bidding on a Kubota B5100 at a surplus auction. I've seen an ad at www.tractorsmart.com for a '78 in good condition(according to the ad) for $2,950.00. Is this a reasonable price? I have not seen this tractor. I doubt it is in very good condition. I appreciate any help.

I know now that I can get the GST back when I buy a tractor in Canada. How about US taxes, do I have to pay any tax on the border on a new tractor. How about used tractor?

The 755 is a great machine. I bought one two years ago and have had zero problems and have used it hard. Make sure this unit has 4wd. The 755 does not come standard with this option. For what you plan on using this tractor for you will need it. Good luck Todd.

I just purchased a L2650 GST 4wd and I am expecting it to arrive in about a week or so. I was curious as to where I could come up with an owners manual. Any info on this tractor would be great really. There doesn't seem to be as much on the net for this model as there is for most. Also, is there any easy way to tell what year the tractor is by looking at the serial #? Any other info on this tractor would be appreciated also.Thanks in advance

I submitted a detailed response last week, but for some reason the message never got posted. I looked at the NH 7308 before buying the Woods 1012. The Woods unit is less expensive than the NH, lifts 400 LBS more, and fits the tractor well. Removal/installation is a five minute operation. I sugest getting a 60 inch bucket and the quick-tach option.
As for the backhoe, I looked at the Woods 7500, but purchased the Bush Hog 762 with the PTO pump option. The Bush Hog unit has dual swing cylinders, while the Woods uses a single cylinder and a chain. The Bush Hog unit has an optional sub-frame which does not mount to the 3-PT hitch pins. The Woods sub-frame mounts to the 3-PT hitch pins. I have not used the sub-frame yet, but would recommend installing it if you are going to dig deeper than 4 feet in hard/rocky soil. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Walt.....if you would like to stay with JD.......have you also considered the JD 790...has 30 hp or 25 pto hp. with 4 WD, you also get continuous live pto...bout the same price as 4100.....right now I am wrestling with this very decision....the 16 pto hp scares me a little on the 4100......but..I want to make use of a 5' tiller..so....so long as I don't lose too much in manoeuvrablity cutting around obstacles.....

This is in response to the question of running a pto implement(generator) while off the seat. You can dismount the tractor with the REAR pto running if both the range shift lever and the gear shift are in nuetral. This does not work if the mid pto is engaged.
