It is a SD1400. there are probably some common parts with Ford, but not a lot. I could only tell by comparing part #s. I can supply available parts & have a SD1400 parts tractor at Sheaffer's Town & Country Tractors inc

Have you bleed the fuel system? You can unscrew the cap on the hand plunger and pump it until you feel resistance. That should prime the system. When starting the tractor, move the hand throttle until you see the foot peddle go down a little. If you do not do this then the fuel may be cut off, remember this is how the engine is stopped.

The +.020" pistons I have coming being aftermarket, who knows where they may be manufactured. I feel the machinist felt the block boring to +.020" would be removing less material then installing sleeves would have involved. Our local NW dealer (3 miles away):) still has the New Holland sign in front of the business, No NH tractors in the line up, but probably 25 new Kubota on the grounds. ;-( Been this way for several years now.

Hope this picture helps. Remember this solenoid gets it's ground from the starter button....NOT the mounting bracket of the solenoid.

My records say this is a NAPA ST85 ungrounded solenoid. The numbers on the side of it are 12v Echlin 1301

I talked to friend who works at a local truck tire shop about foam filling. He said he didn't think anyone local was doing foam anymore, and from what he remebers they charged by the pound. He didn't think it was cheaper than fluid filled, but you can run them bare. He said the foam they used was spungy like a superball so the ride wasn't hard like you would think, but was real bear when it did need changed. They used it a lot on mine equipment around here.

Most tires I just hit lightly with my knuckles and you can tell when you get to the air! Same as with the mallet but I don't always have one with me.

Your right grounds frozen solid! I put it together today and filled the gear boxes and greased the bearings and shafts. I waited for it to warm up a little before starting and it took longer than expected - ran out of daylight to hook up and run it. That will be another day.

Parts manual: I use partstree dot com (there are others but they seem to all share the same data) - you won't find a schematic but the parts diagrams will show you the various pieces, including the glow plug relay and controller for a 7260.

Alternator: Assuming you can get the engine running, is the alternator doing its thing? You should have a pretty constant 13.6V at the battery even when you turn the lights on an off (try it with the flashers; they're a pretty big drain when on).

Looking further in the parts book (I have a paper one as well), all the 7xxx (7260, 7305...) tractors have the glow plug relay and controller/timer listed. I bet the original design was the operator was to turn the switch to 'heat' for 3-5 seconds and then to start. People were burning out glow plugs by heating too long so they added the relay and controller/timer. Or maybe the contacts inside the ignition switch are underrated & the switch was burning out. Since I can hear the relay click when the light goes out, my guess is the timer & relay are behind the dash or kickpanel somewhere and wired to the G1 and G2 terminals on the ignition switch.

Once you find the controller/relay and one or the other is bad, you could rig the wiring back to the original, cutting out both the relay and the controller (thus risking the switch). If the controller is the problem, then you could rig the switch G1 & G2 directly to the relay coil, cutting out the controller. You'd have to remember to only heat the glow plugs for a few seconds, but if you're the only user, this shouldn't be a big deal. And you already have a set of probably perfectly good glow plugs should you burn one up.

It's too cold here to go take this apart on my tractor just for a look-see...

Hi Guys.

Happy New Year all. My apologies for not replying earlier.

It turned out, after-all, that the clutch was shot. I had a mechanic do some diagnostics and he thought, based on the symptoms, that there might be a problem with the synchro shift linkage...but we looked at that and all was fine. There were no visible problems within the transmission itself (after removing its cover and manually shifting it...).

Once a new clutch was installed, all worked normally and has ever since.

nbdk, I completed my pole bldg. home one & a half years ago. I put mine on a foundation though so that I would not have any poles in the ground, if it was going to be rental property than I wouldn't mind the poles being in the ground. <br>

I had a pole bldg. company come in, put the bldg. up on my foundation then I built all the inside walls. The Pole Building I bought was a Lester Building and if it were engineered properly, the material I paid for was delivered to me and their Lester Dealer/Builder had put it up with just a little attention do detail and cared about his workmanship, than I'd be happy, but that wasn't the case. <br>

I was very specific on what I wanted, but Lester Bldgs. incorrectly engineered my bldg., they shorted me on several different materials that I paid extra for like 3/4" plywood on all exterior walls, dripstop on all the roof metal that covers the house portion, hangers for the roof purlins, cement anchors for the columns. <br>

Then you add in the poor workmanship of their Lester Dealer/Builder from I believe your state. After this Lester Builder finished my bldg. and left the state we had our first rain at which time I noticed I had 25 leaks in my roof. Before this builder left town he told me that if he had to come back for anything it would be a $500 minimum and I wasn't going to pay him to come back and fix his mistakes, so I got on the roof and fixed them myself and what I found was that he had installed the roof screws missing the purlins, it took me 2 days to fix this. <br>

It took me 2 years to finish and move into my bldg. at which time we started noticing more serious problems, so I called in an Amish crew to check out my bldg. who found several problems, I tried to get Lester to fix them, but they said they didn't feel any responsibility for my bldg. issues, so I paid the Amish to fix my Lester Bldg. and what they found was 8 roof purlins not nailed at all, they actually pulled one up and out to show me which would explain why on windy nights it sounded like my roof was going to blow off.<br>

A lot of my soffit only had one staple holding it on and when the staples went thru the steel they bent only allowing 3/8" to go into the facia board which would explain all the rattling we were hearing. Facia boards barely on the trusses, we had sister nailers on some trusses. 2 bird blocks not installed, but the ones that were installed didn't have even one nail holding them in place, I personally screwed every one of them off myself. <br>

I paid the Amish a lot of money to fix all of the mistakes and poor workmanship on my bldg. and with that in mind I don't recommend you buying a Lester Building or having their Lester Dealer/Builder do any work for you, his name is C&C Construction, Willis Childress is his actual name.

Dan, I have a B8200 4WD (with a shifter) with the same problem. I'll try to keep this brief. I had it apart in fall '06 when i got it to replace the engine. I cleaned the suction strainer and used Kubota UDT when re-assembled. It didn't get much cold weather use till 2010 and that's when the trouble started. At first I thought "Loader valve" but the studdering and then nothing really seemed like cavitation from a dirty suction strainer or a chunk of ice that took a few seconds before blocking flow. So I pulled the suction screen. It seemed pretty clogged but I did not find any ice. I cleaned it and put it back together. I don't recall how it performed the rest of that winter but it has been a problem the last few. This past fall I drained the fluid and it seemed somewhat creamy so I flushed the system, put in a new suction strainer, new fluid (not Kubota but it said compatible with Kubota UDT on the pail), and a new shifter boot because it is a route for water to get in. I thought "no problems this winter". I was about 15 degrees the other day and it's not any better! I unhooked the lines to the loader and changed the directional valve position and still no pressure. I put the valve back and looped the pressure line back to hydraulic block and still no pressure. I bet if you try this you'll have the same results. This rules out the loader valve and the Amish.
In the Kubota WSM they place the pressure gauge between the pump and the hydraulic block and then restrict the flow to build pressure. This isolates the pump, so if no pressure it can only be the pump or no fluid getting to the pump. I don't have the same pressure test setup as in the book so I'm Next I'm going to brave the cold and disconnect the return line at the top of the transmission and route it to a bucket to check if flow is present even though high pressure isn't. If no fluid comes out I'm going to pull the suction strainer again. I may also, depending on what I find, while the strainer is out and a bucket under the transmission, separate the suction line (it's two piece), attach a hose to the short side attached to the pump and put the hose in the bucket and try the hydraulics again. I'll let you know how it works out. By the way, the loader valve and the three point control valve do seem to be available from Kubota.
