Those are sealed with black Loc-Tite from the factory. They are difficult to get apart, but no heat is required. I used a sharp chisel and hammer to start the parts separating and then finished prying apart with a small pry bar. I did have to file a bit of the mating surfaces to remove burs where I had chiseled before re-assembling the parts. I used the black Loc-Tite RTV sealer to re-seal it when I put it back together. <br>

I found on my 6284 front end that the upper and lower king pin shaft bearings needed replacing. The rest of the bearings seemed fine. I also found that the repair manual called for two seals per side on the king pin housing to reduction gear housing connection. Since there are a number of 7000 series tractors I don't know if this is true for yours. I used a 7000 series manual for my tractor since Cub never published a shop repair manual for the 6284 series tractors.<br>

The bearings are standard metric sizes as are the seals, though the seals have a dirt lip on them. My 6284 only had one seal per side from the factory when I took it apart but I followed the 7000 manual instructions and put two seals per side back in when I re-assembled it. <br>

I was able to resolve this issue. Turns out that after I replaced the Glow plugs and relay, battery etc. It was the Starter. The starter was not spinning fast enough. Since then it starts up on first crank very quickly. Thanks for all your input.

I recently purchased a Ford New Holland 1910. Been restoring it slowly over the last month. Had to rebuild a cylinder on the FEL do to a leak.<br>

Before the repair to the cylinder, there were bubbles in the hydraulic fluid. Now I have replaced the bad cylinder, and have noticed no leaks in the system, but the bubbles are still there. The dipstick (on the tractor, not me) shows plenty of fluid, and nothing seems to be amiss with tractor's operation, but the bubbles concern me.<br>

Looking for any advice on what could be causing said bubbles.<br>

Glad I didn't wait for any replies, lol.
I checked it out, everything important seemed to work fine.
A headlight is loose, a little wobble in the shift, not much. A little dry rot on turf tires, but no air leakage.
Seat base has broken off near bolts, easy fix. Runs good, starts right up.
I offered less and we agreed on $7300. Came with 7' fisher plow and frame, bucket forks. Has 1579 hours. I'm happy and can't wait to get to work with it.

There are mowers designed for slope work. Meanwhile, I don't see how the loader can hurt, if it's just above the ground.

Maybe you could rig an anti-roll device. Picture an axle bolted to the back of the bucket, maybe angled aft a bit, extending to the downside. Maybe even install a wheel on the lower end.

Glad to hear that there is/was resolution to your situation. from the way you write, it seems as though the dealer was hoping that the issue would either correct itself, or go unnoticed until warranty ran out, thereby leaving them free and clear of cost of repair. If it were me, and I encountered these problems, I think I would be seeking a different dealer from point of repair forward if I could not do the work myself.

It's been a few years with these intermittent problems where the tractor runs but won't move.<br>

They usually went away but now it's just plain no-go with no message at all.<br>

Now that winter is over (it's been a monument since February) I can lie on the ground to work on it.<br>

Putting the shuttle lever forward or backward gets nothing.<br>

If I get up while the shuttle lever is pulled the tractor shuts off so I think it knows about the lever.<br>

Perhaps there is a relay that tells the tractor it's ok to comply with my request.<br>

I bought the electrical/platform service manual and tested the go pedal which passed.<br>

Perhaps a loose ground that I can't find?<br>

There are quite a few wires that disappear up under the 'platform' where I can't see.<br>

I started trying to get at them but it seems like I would have to disconnect metal hydraulic lines, etc. to remove the platform.<br>

I just bought my foton 40hp in november. I've plowed snow, graded drives, and I just brush hogged 12 acres today. I'm real happy with it so far. I've got 85hrs on it. I've got a friend that has the same and he rips out and reinstalls concrete drives. The foton 40hp is what he uses and he works the heck out of it and the only problem he's had the what the chinese call generator(alt.) went out. You will more than likely do all repairs yourself. Can't send a photo, but both ends of the cable turn their respective shafts by means of a roll pin. Most common failure is the roll pin. Most common solution, replace broken OE pin(s) with nested pins.

Fordin631,

Injector pump rebuilds are very expensive. Before you go this route, there are several other things that should be checked.

You mentioned that the tractor sat idle for several years. In many cases this will cause a small amount of rust to form on the cylinder walls. In some cases the rust can get so bad that it will prevent the engine from turning at all.......which is commonly referred to as being a "stuck" engine.

Since your engine seems to be spinning over just fine, I'd venture to guess that you've lost the seal between the rings and the cylinder wall.

The fastest way to check this is to remove the injectors and then plug the holes so that no debris can enter the engine while you're working on it.

Insert a compression test gauge into the first injector port, then turn the engine over with the starter a full five revolutions. The compression test gauge will record the highest pressures produced during those five full revolutions.

Continue this process one cylinder at a time, recording your results on each cylinder.

A diesel engine will not fire unless there is sufficient compression to produce the heat needed to cause the fuel to burn. Low compression will prevent the engine from firing.

A good compression tester is a handy thing to have around.......but there's no need to buy one. Most mechanics own one.......but it has to be designated for diesel use. Gasoline engines don't produce nearly as much pressure as a diesel.

Should you discover a low compression pressure, your solutions are limited. It may be possible to get a good seal between the rings and the cylinder wall by pouring a bit of kerosene into each cylinder and letting the tractor sit for a few days. Just pour it in through the injector port opening. Pour about a half-cup of kerosene on the top of each piston. This will help loosen the rust, possibly helping to cure the low compression problem.
