The operator manual is fluff, no use to anyone with common sense. There is no repair manual and the 7000 series isn't a match. (I have one) Click on my username and follow the link to my posts, it will explain what I found wrong. I think this is a serious defect with these Cubs and the reason they went with Cub/Yanmar. I also think all of us owners should file a suit against Cub. They bought most of these back from the dealers ans sold them at huge discounts I know about in the south (FL. ) like $5,000 for a new tractor & loader. I bought mine a year old from a dealer the fail to disclose previous repair attempts.

Reply might be a little late but...

I purchased a BX25 on the 5th of April for $16,300 plus tax and insurance (financed). I live about 25 miles from the dealer and they delivered it for free.

I did get three other quotes: 17,200, 16,575, and 18,200.

I have the same model tractor as you and had the same problems. If you can do the labor on your tractor yourself and can find someone to rebuild the hydrostatic pump just the parts alone will run $1,000. There are several design flaws in this model (52xx & 62xx series) There are some casting bumps under where the electric pto clutch attaches to the inside of the transaxle. These need to be filed down smooth or the vibration wears through the clutch and shorts it out. There is a new design baffle plate for the return oil into the case. There is also a spline joint where the metal was not properly hardened. The top output shaft of the hydrostatic pump mates up to the shaft that provides auxillary hydraulic & pto power. Cub does not have repair parts for the hydro pump, so you need to find someone after you get it out and identify the pump that can replace the top shaft. Cub will sell you a new pump for about $1400. But the only thing wrong with mine was the spline had worn out. The replacement parts from cub come through with a revised design which will cause you to buy a new gear to drive the aux. hydro pump. This is a very involved repair and will require to to make or buy several special tools just to get things apart. My thoughts were when I was doing this repair on my tractor was to get it fixed and dump the tractor. I needed it for snow removal and have been using it since and now feel confident it will work for a good long time before any other major repairs.

I reckon I'll spend the money on a new rough cut mower.

I am getting a small finish grade dozer off of a friend to actually help clear thru the woods where the scrub pines are located....I'll probably move about 2" to 3" of dirt with the process....after I run the dozer thru the woods...I'll do the finish grading with the tractor and implements.

I have down this in the past for a 3 mile cross country track at my son's school...Landmark Christian School...and it turned out nice.

I'm gonna try one more time. If you read my last post it says that the ignitor is on top of the motor mounted on the carb linkage plate which is secured to the top of the motor with two bolts. Obviously you don't have an ignitor if you couldn't see it on top of the motor. Just because your dealer says you have an ignitor doesn't make it so. If you had an ignitor there would be a Y in the black wire coming off the coil and that wire would go to the ignitor. Check the three wires, two green one black coming out from under the flywheel and make sure there isn't a splice in the black wire, if so that's where the wire to the ignitor goes. If the black wire doesn't have a splice in it and you want to use the parts you have ( coil W40449 and ignitor M119146 ) you have to cut the insulation off the black wire somewhere out over the top of the motor, attach another black wire to it and attach the other end of that wire to the ignitor. The ignitor mounts where I said in my last post. So you have the black wire attached to both the coil and the ignitor. Don't cut the wire going to the coil, ( it goes to the ignition switch to shut the motor off ) just attach the wire going to the ignitor to it. I'm sure this will work. If you don't want to do all that you need a coil PN M126972, they have the ignitors in them. That's probably what you had in the first place.

I'm new here and live in alabama. I just bought this belarus 250as and it needs a little tlc but being a pretty handy guy and doing heavy equip maint in the military I didnt think this would be to bad. The first question is where do we get parts? and place local in alabama? Are the filters hard to locate and can you get them from the local parts house or do you have to have specific filters for this engine? I know most equipment you can cross the filters and get from places like napa. Just wanted to ask here since you all seem to be helpfull and full of knowlege.<br>

Second major question is charging system. I need an alternator for this tractor. Do I want to use a factory part or fit up a say GM one wire type alternator.<br>

Heli-coils should not be needed. The holes that are worn oversize are not tapped. they are the drilled ones that go through the frame, not the tapped ones in the block. The top two holes in the front of the engine still look good, just no studs in them. I'll know more a little later. I hope to get the rods cut off the bolts heads tonight so I can back them out to remove the frame. Yoop, I found a pic of one of those brackets on line. I still would like to see how you modded yours though. Denny
