Hi Gatoraider. I tried some of your suggestions---
Both plugs looked the same-very black & dirty and smelled like gas.
No gas ever came out of the overflow tube.
We changed oil,oil filter,air filter & plugs.
THis all seemed to help a lot. It ran much smoother, had more power & seemed to shift better but when I turned it off it backfired. The old air filter was pretty black on the inside. I will try it for a couple more days & see if it gets any better. Thanks Bob H.

There is no noise without anything attached, even reved up. I am leaning toward the noise traveling from the old style removable pto stub shaft from the snowblower pto shaft.

I have a parts book supplyed by Nortern Tool which has only one picture of the pto and its the valve with 33 parts and no part numbers.and it doesn't look like mine

I was useing my PTO and all was working ok I park the tractor took the PTO out of gear. The next time I used the tractor the pto would not engage even though the the lever moved without a problem in either speed. All other hydro works ok. Any help.<br>

Just FYI, Iseki is Japanese - not Chinese. But starters are starters. Yours sounds like a connection problem. Start at the (-) post of the battery and follow the cable to where it bolts to the frame. Remove the bolt. Clean the lug and grind the frame down till you see the gleam of bare metal. Don't bolt it back on yet. <br>

Remove the other end, clean both the post and the connector. Don't reconnect it yet. Remove the (+) cable from the battery. Clean the post and connector. Don't reconnect it yet. Go to the other end of the (+) cable and remove the nut and washer. Clean the connections. <br>

Make sure the tractor is in neutral. Recommect in this order: (+) cable starter end, then (+) cable battery end, then (-) frame end, finally (-) cable battery end. Weatherproof all four connections. Try starting the tractor again. If that doesn't do it, we can move on to the keyswitch-solenoid circuit.<br>

Does anyone have a good source/recommendation for a Forest Service approved spark arresting muffler? I have a 2008 CX with the 10 hp Kawasaki. I think it was an option but before I go back to the dealer I thought i'd ask.<br>

Sorry I can not help you with your direct question but why not open up to other brands such as John Deere or Kubota or even further. I think you will find either JD or Kubota to be as of good quality as the NH. There are some guys here who live in NY guess they either have no suggestions or have missed your question.

Woods makes lots of frame mounts for compact tractors. I looked up a mounting kit manual for yours and the link is below. Looks like they only put on the 7' and 8' models. Mine is the new 9' with thumb and it works great!

I don't think this one has a shut off solenoid--just a manual fuel shut off. I looked in the service manual---I'll check in the parts book later to make sure. Any other ideas?

Check your operator/shop manual or dealer and ensure you have the correct fuse in place. It may be the correct amperage but it may require a special slow blow type fuse or a breaker.

Also check and ensure all your grounds are clean and have a good contact.

Greg, I took several pics but can't load them. My wife is a computer wizzz (seriously!) and works on the programming end for a major freight shipper. She cannot load them, something to do with the URL or HTTP or whatever that I don't get. Bottom line is on the site it's a no go. I've got 6 pics and the only way to get them to you is email/email. If that's ok let me know and guess I'll have to post mine on the site so you can send me an email. Then I'll have yours and can send them.

Yes, that is a good point. The loader was the first thing off the pump before I removed it. Yes, I then hooked straight into the steering, which I assume is how the tractor is from factory without a loader.
The loader didn't work before I unhooked it, and the steering didn't work after, so this is looking more and more like the pump. Maybe it is time to invest in a pressure gauge and just be done with it.
