We have an old farmall; in need of restoration. Please tell me how to determine the year, model number, etc. so we can determine fair value.

I live 20 minutes south of you in arlington and went through this same dilemma just a few months ago. I bought 8 acres of raw land which I cleared 2 of and built my house on. There is a lot of clay on my property and the tractor did just fine with the R4 tires in four wheel drive. I did a lot of research on all the manufacturers and ended up with a L3400 HST. It has done almost everything that I wanted including pulling my neighbors brand new TC30 out of his field. If you want good advice on a Kubota go to Scholtens Tractor in Burlington and talk to Jim he was very informative when I bought mine.

We are wondering how to determine the value of a Kubota 2400 tractor, with brush hog, loader and thatcher. I don't know how to determine the year, or what the hours are. Please tell me how to determine the year; where the hour gauge is located and how to determine fair value.

I must have measured it wrong, my tractor is a 2004.The throwout and pilot bearings look really good. I intend on packing as much grease in them as I can. Are there any clutch aligning tools that will work with this tractor? I thought about just sliding the assembly onto the shafts in the tractor before attaching it to the flywheel to maybe get it close.

Think the bx at the 3pt only picks up 680 lbs for the bx24 not sure of bx25. I have the deere 2520 which is by far a bigger machine and at the 3pt picks up 1100-1400 lbs or so.
The 2720 is new this year but should be same frame as 2520.
A comparible deere probably the 2305 which is about same frame size.

The stabilizer cylinders will sag on my #48, but can't tell you about the boom, I always either put the safety pin in for transport or rest the bucket on the ground when if park it. Some cylinders on any equipment seem to leak back a bit or else the control valves leak a bit, unless they get real bad it isn't much of a concern. Frank.

OK, thanks for the info. I was using a 1965? John Deere 2010 and cutting with no problems. So I thought with more HP it should cut at least as well. The hot air is worse on the left than the right but both sides are hot. Hopefully my pastures won't get this bad again. My old tractor finally sputtered to a halt and the pasture hasn't been mown in about 6 weeks. I did like the 3 point hitch float though. I used to scalp a lot of places with the old tractor. But this one floats the front much better in rough places. Thanks again for the reply.

Hello - I recently sheared the pin that turns the chipper assembly in my 678. it seems that this part is also the crankshaft. do you still have the old motor and if so will you quote me a price to ship the crankshaft out of it?

Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) is a pretty corrosive chemical. Add to that the fact that it's very hygroscopic, it really absorbs water.

I'd want to make sure there was absolutely none of it in any fuel that I was going to pour into an engine. The combination of hygroscopic & corrosive is not a good one. The water the KOH was holding would result in the KOH being trapped in the fuel filter and water separator. Once there in any concentration the corrosive nature would wreak havoc on nearly anything it's exposed to.

BA, you do realize he was recalled to Michigan don't you? Not sure Murf will let you ship him further North but there is those Ice Road Truckers. He may could level the roads for them. Do keep him straight. Sorry, realize that is impossible. :)

EW, the way to handle the drain pipe is have the owner handle that and very serious. Tell them how much they can save by doing so them self and having it on job site in what ever lead time you require or the cost for Home Depot to deliever it is X. In life I find most people can understand such. Those who can not or will not we ship to Michigan. (next load on the way) Ok, that line on shipping them to Michigan was just to ruffle EW. It is a guarded secret where we do ship them. :) kt

The only thing I know about fuels is that they're expensive. But I've been told that 10% ethanol has no effect except an almost imperceptable decrease in gasoline's output.

The only thing I know about additive websites is that they're as credible as the tooth fairy.

But I do know that the sulphur in diesel acted somewhat as a lubricant. And that engine makers have modified their products to be OK on our present low-sulphur fuel. Where that leaves owners of older diesels, I don't know. Most guys seem to think it's a good idea to add a product that increases the lubricity.

Thanks guys; the problem was the three decades of togetherness plus not knowing if it was a pressure-fit or a screw-on. When I learned it was the former, I held a socket with a vice-grips over top of the spindle that poked through the sheave, that is, the belt pulley. The socket was smaller than the the spindle shoulder to not deform the edges and to protect the zerk. Whacked the socket with a sledge until the spindle was driven down through the sheave hole and allowed the parts to be removed from the mower deck (which remained on the tractor).<br>

No rust anywhere, including the key, but nothing wanted to let go of anything. Now I've got it apart except for the roller bearing, which I'll probably have to pry off. Good thing I don't work in a bearing shop.

The simplest would be to get someone with a wrecker to hook onto the vehicle with the scale between the boom and hook, then add the weight of both ends, not exact, but really close.

If you had a full size TLB or crane you could do it yourself.
